Who would you like to be the next Nuggets Head Coach?

Post#1 » by Nugologist » Wed Apr 30, 2008 12:39 am

Here are a few possible options, some more realistic than others, perhaps. And I'm sure there are plenty that I'm not thinking of or aware of. Just figured this might be a relevant subject now that the season is officially over. Personally, I think Avery Johnson might be an exciting choice, should he become available. I like his energy and passion, something that we've missed lately. Keep in mind that, for the most part, coaches typically need a little breaking in with a team or two before they really evolve into a true Jedi, which we desperately need.

Dallas was a pretty bad defensive team before avery took over. I think he would be great for Denver because his skill set matches exactly what this team needs. He's a driver, no non-sense type of guy that knows how to reach players and manage egos. I seriously doubt he would have carter starting over JR and I think he would sit AI when he needs to be sat. He also wouldnt let carmelo make stupid decisions when the game is on the line w/o repercussions. Nor would he let camby sit on the perimeter shoot that crazy wind up jumper of his.

praying that Steve Kerr gives Mike D'Antoni the boot.

would be perfect for us IMO. Fast tempo system, a coach who likes to use younger player, and our team defensively is better than the Suns.

I doubt D'Antoni would come back to Denver, I see him going to Toronto if he is fired.

Well, Avery was fired today. I'd love to see him coaching the Nuggets, although the firing of Karl is the thing that's most unlikely to happen.

I think you need to fire George Karl Today!! Doesn't preach defense and after all these years still hasn't past the 1st round been stuck in quickstand with Karl with his lack of commitment to defense and his offense is flawed and players don't share the ball they just iso and watch a.i/melo/ and J.R Smith has poor shoot selection. Camby is the only player playing defense, K-Mart is trying but just isn't the same used to dominant defensivley in New Jersey.

They also need to add some more defensive minded players around Camby. Before they do that though they need to change the personnel and Hire Avery Johnson this guy preaches Defense and will get the most of this Nuggets team.

I'd like to see the Nuggets use defense, to use there trademark run-gun offense cause the best offense is your defense and learn to play better offense in the halfcourt set. They need to deal the draft pick for a veteran who knows how to play D and additional nugget player for cap reasons maybe Ron Artest or some other defensive player.
I don't think I Trust The Process anymore! :banghead:

Rocky Mountain News wrote:As I told you (Sunday), I think it's embarrassing to answer that question," Karl said. "I don't think (owner) Stan Kroenke ever has shown me or (executive) Mark Warkentien), anybody has ever shown me there's any discontent to the point that you're trying to get me to answer."

"In general, the last couple of years, the freedom, in a way, I think the players have kind of done it their way more often than doing it my way," Karl said. "As an organization, as a coaching staff, as a team, we're going to have to address that next year."

Most of the stuff we're talking about is little things of professionalism," Karl said. "Being on time more often, being more committed to practice, more committed to each other, more committed to the team, more committed to the organization, more committed to public service. Everything."

So he basically admits he wasn't coaching, yet it seems he's still going to get another chance. I think he's all talk, nothing will change next year, and the whole thing will blow up, New York Knicks style.

I can't imagine what is going on in our FO's minds right now. Avery is right there for us, but they continue to sit on their ass.
