Fact of the matter is that teams have figured out how to guard him. They send a strong double, and if his jump shot isn't falling, he becomes almost useless. Rarely will he pass out after he gets the ball, and his ballhandling leaves a lot to desire, also because of which he isn't very good at beating those double team. And all throughout the season, he was never able to figure out how to beat the double teams, nor did he ever learn to pass after he got into the paint when he did. He would always throw up an off balance shot and never get the call. The only time he would make a good pass is when he had Najera slashing to the rim. And it's only a matter of time before the opposing takes that away too. All in all, he's a black hole offensively. He has a lot left to improve, just luckily for him he's only 23 or 24
http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic. ... c&start=48Thats straight from Noone. Lol. I read his post on this board. He tries to overrate A.I., but bash Carmelo. However, on here he tries to let up on Carmelo that way people can say that he's a real fan or he's not just picking on him.
OK....Melo isn't a strong finisher with his left hand...and in the playoffs...he looked worse because the Lakers forced him to make a lefty lay up.... Melo is a very good finisher as long as he can use his right... something he needs to develop is a left hand lay-up and finger roll. He needs to work on his handles...but most of all he needs to work on defensive angles and footwork and working out of a double team (I agree with most fans...it's hard when nobody is cutting to the basket except for Najera).
As a fan you need to be critical of your teams weaknesses... Yes, I have been hammering on Melo...but I will hammer on AI as well... he rarely passes to the open man when driving to the basket... his shot selection is questionable lot of the time, and doesn't try to stay in front of his man defensively...he always goes for steals. Both men are selfish...and yes to be a great player you have to be selfish sometimes...but selfless others.
If either Melo or AI want to win a championship...they are going to have to learn a word TEAMWORK. Honestly, I do love parts of each of their games...can be very exciting and dynamic, but it takes more than just playing offense and jacking up tough shots.
AI will probably be here because of his $21 million option year. I can't see many teams willing to do a sign and trade for AI and why would the Nuggets take garbage back when they can get $21 million off the books next year.
Melo will probably be here because he 23 turning 24 and can be a "franchise" type player and the Nuggets won't get good value out of him right now. If JR Smith can turn around his career after last off season and things early on this last season...Melo can make the leap...but Melo has to learn from all his mistakes
