Reportedly, Dumars offered Billups and Prince for Melo... but Denver declined.

Denver wants Billups, and was willing to give a package of AI + Camby for Billups + "others"

Dumars declined, as he doesn't have interest in adding Iverson...

But it seems as if perhaps talks have resumed.

If that rumor is true...

it's good to see them offer AI + MC for Billups.

i like AI but adding him would be a bit redundant with Stuckey.

definitely would have been a silly trade for detroit to take AI when they already have Rip, who fits better with what they are trying to do. the counter should have been sheed for camby and kleiza. billups shouldnt even be on the table because they arent going to get another point guard as good as him in a trade....

camby + LK for sheed sucks balls for us.

we'd be better off offering that for Artest.

Detroit loves Stuckey as their point guard of the future, that is why Billups is being shopped. AI would give them a go-to scorer which they don't have. Still dont see them going after this deal, but that was the logic.

ERRRRRRRRR. LK and Camby for Sheed would be a great move for this team, in large part because they would be able to get a contract back that expires next year. Oh, also Sheed owns Camby and while I like LK, he isn't necessary and not too much to give up to get out of Camby's contract and end up with the better player.

artest isnt worth as much as camby let alone camby and LK.

they could have got artest for like and najera.

whereas sheed is definitely a more impactful player than camby and actually fills a need in denver. a scoring big man that can defend, rebound, and stay healthy with an expiring contract. within a year they have two old vets with major contracts coming off the books. they get under the cap space, and have money next summer to play the free agent market.

works for detroit, cause they get a good prospect in LK and a dependable rebounder in camby. this was a lot more realistic and mutually beneficial than some of the other trades put out there.

detroit must have agreed with your mindset that this logic was flawed. people are seriously undervaluing Rip and his fit with Detroit. AI would not fit as well at the two as Rip does. Im an AI fan and I wouldnt trade billups for him. Veteran PGs are a lot harder to come by than shooting guards.

Billups has a terrible contract, considering he's on the decline.

Dont u want to develop Stuckey?

Are you serious??!! You call Billups' contract terrible? If you were an NBA GM you would be scratching you nuts wondering how in hell did Joe Dumars get to sign the guys on his roster to such reasonable contracts. Look around the league and comepare the contracts of any player to their production. Then factor in their health and durability and I bet you dollars to donuts that the players on the Pistons roster would be tops among them. The Pistons is not a team saddled with bad contracts. Billups will make between $11 mil and $14 mil over the next 4 season with an option for the 4th. Prince will make between $9 mil and $11 mil over the next 3 seasons. Those are their longest contracts. Billups could have recieved more money last season if he wanted to leave Detroit. But he had instructed his agent not to talk to any other team. He probably could have been making $13 mil to $15 mil per year. And guess what...Denver would probably be the team to pay that through a sign-and-trade with the Pistons.

Now go back to last summer, look at your roster and think about it.

I wish Detriot accepted Iverson, LK and Camby for Billups and Tay

I think that could have Improved both teams.

If Denver refused to Melo for Chauncey and Tay deal, maybe theyd prefer a Melo and Nene for Prince and Sheed trade since Wallace will expire along with A.I

As I have stated somewhere, sometime earlier, our GM's name is DUMARS! Not DUMB-ASS!
