Pre-season take:
The Denver Nuggets limped into the post season last year
after taking too many things for granted. They believed
Nene would be there all year, Camby would provide all the
defense, and played with the idea of whether Melo should
shoulder more of the scoring burden or Allen Iverson
should just take over.
Point Guard was also taken for granted in that Iverson did
not taken over point guard completely and a point guard
with size that would be complimentary to Iverson playing
at his natural position was never sought out.
All of this created indecision, and when you are
indecisive in sports, you are more likely to lose, and the decision is made for you.
This year Chris Anderson, Nene, Kenyon Martin, Melo, and
Allen Iverson all have something very important to play
for: pride.
Anderson is getting a second chance with a contending team
after coming clean. Nene is getting a second chance with
his health threatened. Martin finally got his knees back
and really wants to show he can use them. Melo has a habit
of messing up, but his desire to become a champion will
outweigh his downside.
Iverson has been running longer than anyone on the team at
a high clip and that elusive goal is going to be supported
this time by a crew of players that want more than
anything else to just be more than a locker room full of
stars - they want to be champions.
When it comes down to that final moment when desire
decides who wins and loses, the Denver Nuggets will be
right there with the best of the NBA.
One rebound, one dive for a loose ball, one deflection that turns into the winning shot. The Nuggets know that last year's effort will not be enough.

Really well said...but is it gonna be all talk like it has been the past 2 seasons... or are they actually gonna show up and get it done consistently all season long? Hopefully they can do it.
