2 measley games. If his name was Melo, he'd be sitting the remainder of the season. Of course, let's not forget, Melo DIDN'T connect his swing......and Randolph clocked the guy.
Way to be fair, Stu.....
Smells like............BULL SH*T

Re: Randolph Suspension
i can understand the reasoning to not suspend him 15 games, because the punch didn't re-escalate a fight that was dying down. but a 13 game difference between two punches that were basically identical in every other regard? that's ridiculous.

Re: Randolph Suspension
I hear ya, Corona. That's why I posted. It pisses me off that the NBA can play judge jury and executioner - ONLY when it wants to. There is no reason Randolph should only have 2 games. That's another example of "east coast bias" - I know he's on the Clips now, but he used to play for the Knicks....

Re: Randolph Suspension
I just read the suspension for zach randolph and thought, "oh it must not have been that bad of a punch or he missed or something". So i went to youtube and looked it up.........Holy ****....Randolph hit that guy so hard, closed fist, and connected.......Melo on the other hand, through a weak ass slap......(no offense to melo)....and randolph only gets TWO!!!! games......wow.....that is ridiculous. just absolutely ludicrous.......

Re: Randolph Suspension
I thought the same thing, just ridiculous. I thought after the brawl at the garden, that the NBA was going to start cracking down hard on fights, and Melo was the poster child for that. Guess they abandoned that idea the next day, because no one else has even come close to getting the suspension that he did.

Re: Randolph Suspension
I'm sorry, punishment for this kind of thing is supposed to be on the uptick, not moving downward. Because players didn't react after the punch doesn't change that he threw a punch.

I was seriously expecting 10-15 games, 5 at the very least. But 2 games? Randolph knocked down Amundson during the play, stood over him taunting him, and as soon as he got up punched him in the face. Not to mention Amundson didn't make one aggressive move or even hint at one.
Straight up bull. Makes no sense to me.

Re: Randolph Suspension
maybe its worse than a suspension to actually have to play for the clippers? but seriously, thats such bull and makes absolutely no sense. its not like zach randolph is seen as a better character guy than melo either... should have been a 10 game suspension if the nba wanted to keep any credibility.

Yeah, in one regard, at least Melo had a "reason" for what he did. Try to injury my teammate, I hit you. Not that, that excuses what he did. Randolph there seemed to be no reason for it. Knocked the guy down, taunted him, then hit him for getting up?
Made no sense he threw the punch and even less sense at the suspension.
So IQ wise:
Randolph > Stu/Stern

Re: Randolph Suspension
I guess when Stern said he was making an example out of Carmelo, he meant that purely for Carmelo as an individual.
Does anyone doubt that if Carmelo was in Randolph's place, he would have been suspended for the rest of the year? If not, he'd have got at least 15 again.

This is utterly ridiculous. I can't believe it. I always felt the league had something against Carmelo. I wish somebody in thea league would at least make a comment about this. But man you gotta say Randolph really clocked Amundson.
