Camby should have a monster year, particularly because he'll have better help down low. The extra motivation provided by the "snub" trade should elevate his game. If he doesn't get hurt, he'll make the Denver FO look foolish, but this trade was never about Marcus' skillset or ability, it was about his tendency to get injured and the enormous savings we got out of it.

Look for him (if healthy) to be a DPoY candidate, and for the clueless fans of Denver to burn down the Pepsi Center. Camby does it with smoke and mirrors, as Snake so eloquently and thoroughly described above.

his effective jumpshot has an effective rate of around 30%. i'm not sure why espn commentators are so enthralled by it, but he's not that good from the top of the key.
he is a good passing big. i'd say nene is pretty decent as well.
nene's better overall because he defends pick and rolls by hedging. he sets fantastic picks offensively. he rolls to the basket on offense instead of scratching his nuts on the 3 point line. he finishes at the rim or gets fouled when he catches in the paint. he plays physical, positional defense instead of 'let your man go by you and go for the block/steal' defense.

^Exactly what corona said... positional defense. That's why although they have lesser names than Camby, I'd take Kendrick Perkins, Brendan Haywood/ Etan Thomas over Camby any day. They play defense the right way, not the street ball/ video games way.

It's interesting to see how dumb LBJ to BK 08 and a few other posters were.

Regarding Camby, where do you think the Nuggets would be with Camby as the starting C and Nene on the bench? Sadly I see them as a 7th seed and getting knocked out of the playoffs in the first round. It's sad how overrated he's been his entire career. I'm glad he got exposed this season.

The Clippers did not trade a second round pick.

they traded the option to swap second round picks. Nuggets dont get an extra pick.

LBJ TO BK 08 wrote:absoultey no clue on what a big man means to the game ...stats wise the man gets triple doubles with blocks...basketball wise just because he doesnt get 5 blocks a game doesnt mean he doesnt impact it...as a big myself who blocks the S*** out of any one who comes at me...once i block someone they dont come back...its called the imtidation factor...marcus camby owns the paint when hes on the floor no one is gna take it to him they are gna either shoot a bad or a tough shot eithter way they will respect him...psh overrated defender

I don't know how many scrub centers around the league had career nights against Camby when he was with the Nuggets, but it was a large number. Anyone that takes it straight into him usually has success. He is good at weak side help in the paint, but try to get him out of the paint and show on a perimeter player after a switch on a pick and pop. It just doesn't happen. I liked Marcus, but his time to move go had come. He doesn't dunk or finish in traffic, instead he tries to lay it up like the pg he thinks he is. Watch the Lakers series from last year's playoffs and it should prove this point to you about a gazillion times.
