between what i'm about to say and my thoughts on not bringing back andersen i'm not sure it is going to be safe here for me anymore

if you want an Xs and Os coach.... Mr. (here is 1k) Tim Floyd is the guy. No i'm really not joking. Going back to Texas El Paso, Idaho, U of NO, ISU, and especially with the Hornets he's coached the limited talent he had to the max. Of course people forget the awesome job he did with the Hornets and only remember the Bulls mess. But no Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, etc etc what did you expect?

Anyways when Karl's contract is up Tim Floyd would be on my list. I must admit Quin Synder has done an outstanding job with the Austin Toros. He'd be very high on my list of possible assistant coaches. I'd probably suggest keeping Tim Grgurich and oh crap now I'm really going to get it... ex-partyman and close Floyd confidant Larry Eustachy.

One thing I'd debate til the end is that all 3 guys are damn good coaches and Kroenke could probably get them all cheap too.
I like my prospects the same way I like my women... foreign- pickIBL

Unfortunately, Grgurich is a GK guy through and through... if GK isn't coaching... maybe he'd stay...but I doubt it...he's pretty loyal to Karl...

In 2002 RIck Carlise won coach of the year...

In 2003 he lead Detroit to the ECF where they were swept by New Jersey.

A few months later he was let go and Dumars hired Brown, who led Detroit to 1 championship and another tough game 7 finals loss again San Antonio.

Hey guys! Long time Sonics fan here so I've seen a lot of George Karl.

I agree with the OP that Karl won't be able to bring you farther than this. Karl coached some of the most talented teams in the 90's, did you know that the Sonics were the winningest team in that decade behind the Bulls? But what did we have to show for it? One single finals appearance. Sure, it was a good showing when we finally made it but we had two years to win the title and instead the Rockets took it those years. Not to mention I'm sure you as Nuggets fans remember our colossal collapse in round one versus the Dikembe led Nuggets.

In my mind Karl is a coach that likes to establish a line-up and let them play how they want. It was extremely effective this year because you had a guy like Billups leading your team and getting everyone to play in a disciplined manner. However, in past years hasn't it been a little frustrating watching the complete lack of discipline instilled by your head coach? I just don't think you could have any more talent on your roster than you did this year so how are you going to improve?

None of the preceding even takes into account Karl's continual off-court problems with players. He's had problems with Kemp, Payton, Ray Allen, Melo, J.R. Smith... am I missing anyone? In some cases these issues have led to the player leaving the team (Kemp, Allen).

And did anyone watch him try to coach the Olympic team? That was absolutely embarassing.
