Thanks for the youtube Cowology, now I really like him... he can drive to the rim and shoot off the dribble and create his own shots. He's possibly a more physical defender than DJ without committing unnecessary fouls... and he likes challenge it seems when he fills in for the injured Rip and starting I heard he averaged 12-14 ppg.

Karl mentioned at the end of the playoffs that JR is going to start, so I expect it will be something close to JR 30 min/Afflalo 18 min with possibility of Lawson playing the 2 at times along with Chauncey, because Karl loves running the 2 PG backcourt.

I can actually see Affalo starting, if he is that good of a defender and works hard and can hit open shots like Pistons fans claim him to be (stats back it up mind you).

We need scoring off the bench in the worst possible way.

Any1 know what TE we used? The big one from AI, or the small ones from Chucky and Samb?

I don't get this trade at all - Afflalo isn't really the kind of player you dump. Why dump low salary young players with decent upside? They didn't save that much.....

Monday's trade was officially two separate transactions according to sources with knowledge of the negotiations. The Nuggets used the $9.8 million Traded Player Exception (TPE) they received in the Chauncey Billups trade last November to acquire Afflalo. This means that Denver still has $8,713,760 in exception money left on the team's largest TPE that can be used before November 3rd should the front office choose to do so in addition to three other smaller TPE's the team owns that have not yet been used.

There's a pretty good sized article with some more insight into the trade.

Love love this move. Solid 2nd unit back court at least. just need 2 more front court players or so (Sharpe is garbage)... I like what the front office is doing.

gotta love doing business with joe d. now the question is what is denvers next move? though this move is great they need to make sure to sign kleiza and hopefully someone else for the front court. its to bad the nuggets past on dajuan summers at #34 in the draft he is starting to look like a steal.

Here's what you're getting in A.A. & Sharpe

Afflalo will be the first guy on the court every morning... and last to leave... he's got active feet on D.
he's the guy sticking his nose middle of the pile coming up with the loose ball or hustle board.
He won't complain about minutes (even when he should)... he'll give you consistency even in short minutes.
A.A. has court smarts... he'll hit the open man or he'll take it hard to the rack.
His range shooting showed steady improvement... to where you started to gain confidence it was going in... but not a lot of unwanted chucking... just steady smart play.
With the A.I. situation Aaron got burried on the pines for a while... this led to some rusty play until A.I. got the his walking papers.
A solid defender... not a premier athlete but he anticipates well and keeps his man in front of him... an annoying defender seems to fit.

Sharpe... barely sniffed the floor... scouting reports suggest that he's a converted PF to SF because of his handles and ability to score from various spot... what I saw in preseason was smooth fluid motions (crossovers, spin moves etc) with the ability to finish.
His defense is sub par (even by his own admission in an interview) as he was learning to guard perimeter players for the first time.
If you follow his history of narcalepsy it can lead to several humorous posts during slow times... believe me he had all kinds of "sleepy" nick names... even got kicked off his 1st college team (couldn't stay awake in class).. word is the new medication has been successful (still missed the bus).

Gonna miss Afflalo... he's fearless.... you're welcome

Wow, Thanks for this. It is just what I was looking for.
Question: Does anyone have an idea of what the FO might due with the remaining TPE's?

Awesome! We get more depth and youth with two prospects. I really like Afflalo and he could be another DJ but better and cheaper.

On a side note, i think we traded a future 2nd round pick for afflalo and sharpe? How did we absorb their salaries? TPE?

Does anyone know exactly what year the Pistons will be receiving the 2nd rounder?

I believe it's a 2011 pick. Whichever is worse between Denver's own 2nd rounder and the one Portland owes them.
