I get the feeling that this is a precursor to another move. And I don't get why so many people are freaking out about this. We traded two guys who would never play for a guy who fits a need and fills a hole in our roster. I don't expect Allen to get more than 5 minutes a game anyway.

Nope. I have a feeling they're trying to make it apart of a bigger deal if possible before settling on this small aspect of it. No reason why it wouldn't have been done already otherwise.

What trade restriction? We're not going to wait the two months before he can be packaged to make this deal. He can be traded straight up right now, and that's how the deal was/is going to be completed. It can happen whenever they want it to.

unless the FO is stupid enough to use their FO on a useless bag like Allen, Sharpe can't be traded in a group.

Not true. Sharpe was able to be traded with another player the instant you acquired him.
The only restriction was for 2 months you were not allowed to use his salary for aggregation purposes that might be required by a trade. That is not required here. Bucks will use the minimum salary exception to absorb Sharpe's salary. From our end, sending out Allen allows us to take back Weems.
From your end, you have to use $1.3 mil of your TPE to absorb Malik Allen.

If you can split a trade into multiple parts that are all allowable on their own, you can roll them all together and do it as one trade. No need to wait.
But because of that, you are correct that the Bucks also have to include "something" even if it amounts to nothing, such as a conditional 2nd round pick designed never to be conveyed, or the draft rights to some obsolete foreign player, etc.

How so? We have over 10 million dollars worth in TPEs. We're definitely not going to use all of that, probably not even most of much of it....so might as well take advantage of it in deals that we can.

On a side note, if this trade is not completed before August 10, it's not going to happen. The whole point for the Bucks is to get a couple of guys they can waive for cheaper than what they'd be paying Malik Allen. Weems' contract becomes fully guaranteed on the 10th, so it has to be done before then....therefore the only way for it to happen is how it is suggested above.
