Nuggets/Blazers Preseason

Post#1 » by Powder Blue » Mon Oct 19, 2009 4:07 am

Well the nugs just lost to the Blazers 98-96. K-Martin took a last second 3 that obviously didn't go in, not sure what that's all about.

Nugs had a lead in the 4th but lost it, AC was a stellar -12 during his 20 minutes while Ty was +4 with 8 points in his 7 min of action.

The Nuggets were up by like 10 at the beginning of the 4th....but Melo play in the 5th and we were giving a lot of the bench guys some PT, so it's no surprise we lost the lead. Not that it's important one way or another.

It's hard to take anything from a game when you don't get to watch, though. Thanks Altitude, it's truly awesome that the Nuggets have their own tv station...I thoroughly enjoy your coverage of poker and re-runs of beauty pageants.

Karl's pride is his weakness. Trying to live up to his "hard on rookie" status will cause us problems. However it is still preseason, this Karl, AC, Ty saga isn't pretty.

- Melo looks like he'll win the scoring title this year.
- 35 mins for KMart + game winner... wtf?
- JR playing on reduced minutes despite getting a 7 game suspension... wtf?
- Afflalo should be starting and setting the 'defensive tone' rather than Graham.
- Lawson outplayed Carter... AGAIN.
- God damit Balkman, stop getting injured.

From the box score it appears we were outrebounded on the offensive glass.....and that's really disheartening considering how many 3s Portland missed.

Not sure how Graham looked but his box score is decent....and I am assuming it gave us a little size.

FTs were not an issue.....but turnovers and then transition D apparently stunk.

Considering all they had to do is try a little harder in any of these areas, it was a pretty good showing.

Billups need more than 5 apg.....JR needs a few more touches before he goes on layaway.....Nene needs to make sure he has more rebounds than TOs. I think that's an unspoken rule.

What was the Melo technical for?

I agree. I say embrace the rookie only because he is very talented, and if the rook is respectable and carries himself like a pro treat him like a vet.

The only times a rook should be held back is 1) due to lack of performance at this level 2) lack of respect and professionality....

Let's just hope Ty doesn't hide the coughdrops. 8-)

They should combine the elements into one pre-game show. Karl and Doug Moe take one two players from the opposing team in a quick game of Hold 'Em. Then get the Nuggets dancers to put on a fashion show with AC, Rocky and Birdman as the judges.

Of course, just the game would be nice too.

I was at the game. It was the worst reffed game I have ever seen in 30 years of NBA viewership. I heard fouls from my seats that were not called - literally. Both teams either got called for non-calls and or calls that should have been called were non-calls. Truly pathetic.

Your team looked good. There is no doubt in my mind they will compete for the Division Title and are the clear favorites.

Lastly, as one of you mentioned, Anthony could easily run away with the scoring title - the kid is a machine.

Cya all on the 29th.

The technical on Melo, was for kicking a ball after a charging call.
I would love to know how a starting center in the NBA, manages to get 6 fouls, 4 turnovers, and ONLY 3 REBOUNDS TOTAL! 3! You've got to be kidding me... HE played 27 minutes for god's sake. He needs to work on his rebounding if he plans on helping us at all this season...

Lawson should be playing more than seven minutes in a preseason game. I'm fine (kind of) with bringing him along slowly in the regular season, but he should be playing in meaningless games.

I think that is probably the most pathetic thing I've seen in the NBA in a couple years, at least.
