This is one of the reasons how Karl has been hurting this team. He has a 7 footer who has been useful when he gets playing time, but Karl refused to play him and develop him more. If Petro had been getting regular minutes, Bird's knee may be healthier, maybe Kmart's knee isn't as bad, and Petro would be more ready to fill in if Kmart misses a bunch of time.

Petro/Andersen
Melo/Graham
Nene/Balkman

Would be fairly solid. Get Nene to his natural position, have a 7 footer with length in the middle to rebound, and you have a guy who averaged near a double double filling in for Kmart last year as the backup PF.

It's amazing how much depth this team could have had, if Karl actually developed it. Instead he wants to only play 8 players.

or just play melo at the 4 a bunch with a 3 that can actually shoot. (ie AA at 3, Jr at 2)

he dominates at international ball at the 4, and i believe he actually outweighs kenyon. not sure why karl has never tried it for extended periods with the nuggets.

That would suck if K-Mart's out. And for as good a job as the front office has done recently, they really seemed to have dropped the ball in not picking up a serviceable big before the trading deadline, given Nene and K-Mart's histories and the fact that Bird seems to have been hurting all year long. With that said, I guess I don't know what was actually on the table.

Whether or not K-Mart's season is over, It might not hurt to start giving Petro some minutes to see what he can actually do. He seems to play better and with more confidence when he's given some non-garbage time minutes. Get him some minutes with the second team over the next several weeks and see whether he can step up his game by the time the playoffs start.

With the Lakers reeling and the window open for the 1-seed, this hurts.
