Screw Tyrus, let's get Haywood!

Post#1 » by SnakefromHell » Mon May 3, 2010 2:28 am

Let's not spend our Full MLE on Tyrus...

When I see Tyrus, I see KMart. A super athletic high flying (before his injuries, KMart was) lanky physical power forward with above average defense who makes their team's fans cringe when they shoot from 10+ feet. Both guys are "scavengers", collecting offensive rebounds/ putbacks for their points... more so for Tyrus as he virtually has ZERO (0) post moves. At least KMart has that driving, spin, and baby hook shot move. Tyrus has far inferior inside game than KMart, and that is scary because KMart doesn't have much to begin with.

Then perhaps he has J.R.'s brain. He's just crazy... but perhaps not as crazy as J.R.

And it doesn't stop... he also has Nene's inconsistency. He can get 20 and 8 one game and go for 3 and 5 the next. Perfect guy for us to spend our team's full MLE on! I hope the FO catches this well before they spend any energy, money, time on acquiring him. Getting him and offering him a position higher than a 7th man is nothing short of a nightmare.

Instead, give me Haywood any day. An automatic 10 rpg man to go with inside game/ touch. Now that's a guy everyone's sleeping on with these marquee free agent names like Bosh/ Amare... Give me Haywood! After we get him, then we can focus on the flashier trade scenarios like Bosh, etc. Haywood would remedy a lot of our post problems: softness, consistent rebounding, consistent boxing out, consistent shot-contesting in the paint, consistent (not passive aggressive) post game we can go to, great teammate.

Haywood will probably get close to $10 million per, Thomas may get the MLE. If you can tell me how they can just go get Haywood I am listening, but it is going to take a major trade chip to get Dallas to sign and trade him to us considering it sounds as if they would like to keep him.

The only thing I'm wondering is if he's restricted or not. If he's restricted then Dallas will definitely match offers anything $8 mil or below... if above, not sure.

But if he's restricted it really changes the way teams try to get him.

He's not restricted, but there is no way for a team with 70+ million in committed payroll to offer any kind of contract over the MLE. He will more then likely get a contract starting around $8.5-9.0 million, the time to get him was last offseason which is when I was a huge advocate for him.

If he gets $10 mil per, trade Nene straight up for him. I would so do that.

I don't want no more "Nene's potential", no more "Nene's only 27", no more "this year Nene is gonna be an All Star".

When a big big guy like him, jumps scared like some people jump scared when they see spiders when we give him the ball to score in the post, and it's a rookie (not Dwight Howard/ DPOY) guarding him... you know something is wrong with him. He should be checked if he has mental issues. I give up on him.

I can understand if a player struggles, e.g. only scored 5 pts on 2-15 shooting... struggles happen. But when he doesn't even try like only attempting 4 shots the WHOLE game, when he's not in foul trouble, when he plays 32+ minutes... then only get 3-4 rebds that's what kills this team imo. It's like he's AFRAID of attempting a shot. If you're Kwame Brown and you're afraid, then I can understand... if you're Nene? That remains a mystery... a mystery I'm not keen on being around or giving patience to it anymore.

Main priority of this team IMO should be to get rid of this psycho. And what better deal than to trade him for a guy who offers all the remedies..? I think for Nene, we have a good chance for Dallas to do the sign and trade.

But best of all, since Haywood is UNrestricted, then it's really his liberty to choose any team he signs.

If he doesn't think money is important, and want to sign with team that gives him a chance to start at the same time have a real shot at a championship... that could be us.

- Resign in Dallas? What if they get bounced in first round again? Everyone whispers "Dirk is soft"... and the coach also benched him in favor of Dampier in a stretch of 5 games or so! Why compete minutes with Dampier and play for a coach who doesn't know who to start?
- Sign with true championship contender like Lakers? He has to compete minutes with Bynum
- Sign with Cavs? He has to compete minutes with Z, Varejao, Hickson and Jamison.
- Sign with Boston? KG is getting old... and if they get swept by Cavs, it sure will not be appealing.

I think the Nuggets will have a shot to sign him to full MLE if we approach him with this in mind... "we can give you a starting position you won't have to worry about competing with anybody... we won't bench you for Petro, don't worry. And with you we can compete for a championship"... :D

WOOOOOO I'M EXCITED

Haywood just spent the last 5 years or so making less then $30 million total, I am sure he will be interested in getting a good payday.
