2010 NBA Draft

Post#1 » by eathb_au » Tue Jun 22, 2010 10:50 am

Denver Post quoted Karl saying that there's a "50-50" chance of the Nuggets trading for a pick in the draft. Karl wants a post presence.

Looking at DraftExpress there are some nice players in the 2nd round which is where our range will be.

Willie Warren and Darington Hobson are scorers who can create their own shot that could fill any void by JR if we choose to trade him.

Brian Zoubek who we worked out is a 7 footer and a rebounding beast.

Dexter Pittman is listed at 310 lbs. Jarvis Varnado is a shot blocking PF.

Denver needs a pick. The've been to thin in the front court for a while now. And when the Kenyon and NeNe go down...and you bring out Renaldo Balkman and Petro as your starters...Omg fail waiting to happen.

I'm still hoping for a mid 20 pick or Memphis's last first... hopefully we get Whiteside or Brackins and Warren or Crawford... but Zoubek is better than nothing

I'm still hoping we make some real noise in this draft. And by noise, I certainly don't mean trade for a 2nd rounder....

same... last year I wasn't expecting much at all, I was expecting we'd just keep our #34 and draft someone like Patty Mills... then when ESPN rumored that Ty was picked for Denver I seriously went crazy...

I would love to get that same feeling of happiness again... I think there's a chance we could pull almost the same exact trade again too... Miami might want to get as most $ this year for FA.... so maybe Cook, #18 for a future first would work...

I love second rounders. They're easy to get, and you're just as likely to find a solid rotation player there, as you are in picks 15-30. Plus they're cheaper.

Potential second round guys worth looking at...

Bigs: Craig Brackins, Gani Lawal, Jarvis Varnado, Jerome Jordan, Samardo Samuels, and then pure size guys like Tiny Gallon, Dexter Pittman, and Art Parakhouski.

I doubt Daniel Orton slips to the second round, but he would definitely be worth taking a flier on if he does.

Guards/Wings: Darington Hobson, Jordan Crawford, Quincy Pondexter, Terrico White, Dominique Jones, Willie Warren.

I see a lot of guys who could definitely fill a role on this team, either as a backup big, or backup wing player. I really love Hobson and Varnado, and think they could step in a be contributors right away.

How much free money does Denver have?
Miami is looking to sell their #18 pick. Hope they take that and buy a 2nd round pick for Jerome Jordan

I think by sell, they mean trade it with James Jones to a team with cap space, to get rid of his partially guaranteed deal....plus cash. We wouldn't be able to do that.

And I doubt they're just going to sell it out right.

was thinking the same thing^^ about #18... Denver will take Cook, #18 for a TPE, cash and a future second... Look at Brackins, Whiteside or Orton... most likely we'll see someone from the top 10 slide here... we could get him

then buy one or two more picks... no point in not getting as many as you can... it's young, cheap talent.. like Varnado, Jordan, Crawford, Warren, Zoubek to name a few

Kevin Seraphin sounds like a good fit reading his draftexpress profile.

ESPN.com wrote:
But beyond that, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports the Heat are also looking to ditch their first-round pick (No. 18) in an effort to clear even more space.

He writes: "The Miami Heat's draft pick at No. 18 is available, league sources say. 'They want to sell it to clear cap space,' one Western Conference executive said."

The Nuggets don't have a pick in the NBA draft, but may buy or trade for one.

"I'd say it's about 50-50," head coach George Karl told The Denver Post.

There have been rumors that Denver is looking at Indiana's pick at No. 10 for Ty Lawson, but the Nuggets like the point guard too much to make that deal.
