But consider this trade:
Denver gives up Chauncey and Balkman for Troy Murphy and Gortat
Orlando gets Chauncey for Gortat/Nelson
Indiana gets Nelson/Balkman.
Would we do it? I love Chauncey as much as the next Nuggets fan, but if we did this I'd be ecstatic. Simply from a talent perspective, I think having a core of Lawson/JR/Melo/Murphy/Nene would be worth losing a little firepower. Murphy adds a whole different dimension with his outside shooting, and we can pick up a PG fairly cheap. Considering Kenyon's trade value right now post-knee surgery, I think we need to make a move to shore up the frontcourt, and this gives us a lot of options in the future. Let's hope Lawson is as good as I think he is....

no way!! I said this in the trade thread too... why trade a PG for two bigs who should get 30 minutes a game... there's only so many minutes to play bigs... not to mention this isn't fair value for Chauncey at all

Kmart is not going to be able to start the season. I'd love to be able to start Nene/Murphy and have Birdman/Gortat off the bench.
When Kmart returns, we either use he or Murphy as trade bait. I love Chauncey, but unless we have another decent big we aren't going anywhere...
And Murphy gives us outside shooting and good rebounding. That's something we don't have at the PF position. This can free up the lanes for penetration and kick outs.

I want to lose Billups, but not in a trade like this. I would rather have Hibbert anyway.

I actually believe that we could get better by trading Billups, I don't think he fits real well with the rest of the team and their concept. Overall I would probably do this deal with another asset or two coming back to Denver.

Since when should Gortat get 30 minutes a night? He hasn't even averaged over 20. There is nothing proving he could handle that much time in the NBA.

I would love this, but I definitely would like to try and get more out of it too. Also, I'm only for this trade if the team doesn't bring back AC.
Lawson/FA
AA/Mike Miller (MLE)
Nene/Birdman
Melo/Miller
Murphy/Gortat
+ whatever else can be gotten moving Billups. And you have Kmart and JR as trade bait.
