Seriously, how awesome is Gallinari?

I'm a Knicks fan that would undo that trade in a second. Chandler, Gallo, Ray and Moz. Those are 4 guys that could be starting and playing in the Nuggets rotation for years. Carmelo is a great offensive player but not worth all 4 of those guys, two 2nd round draft picks and a 1st round pick. Denver's GM should be thrown in jail because that was a flat out robbery.

Chandler wasnt coming back after this year, Felton was going to be gone after 2012.

So really the lone pieces lost are Mozgov, Gallo and the picks.

Regardless, I am happy Gallinari is doing well.

Sorry but that is just a total rationalization to look at assets under contract like that. By that standard you could say Melo wasnt coming back and Billips was gone after 2012 so the Knicks gave the Nuggets Gallo and Moz and a 2014 first round pick for nothing. The Knicks could have always done a sign and trade deal for Chandler and or Felton. Besides Walsh said he wanted to give Chandler a contract extension. Walsh wouldnt let a 16ppg guys who plays defense walk away for free.

Every honest NY fan will tell you that although they like Anthony on the team, they wish they also had Gallo.

Sure if I could add Gallo to the Knicks w/o giving up anyone I would, but if the deal got done w/o Gallo, I'd trade him. Don't get me wrong, he's a good player, but he brings nothing to the table we don't already have. Not a better scorer than Melo or Stat. Not a better rebounder than Melo, Stat or Fields. Only averege defensively, like the Melo, Stat and Fields and not that much of a better 3 point shooter than the guys we have coming off the bench.

I would either trade him for a decent big or for a mid first rounder.

intangibles ..he brings intagibles to the table, winning mentality, a first class competitor, he does tremendously good in about every aspect of this game, he doesn't excel in something in particular...he's basically a guys who every playoff contender should have on their roster.

In all fairness, I haven't seen Denver play after the trade, but here, he didn't display these intangibiles. He was a good player. Not "tremendously good" and often was over shadowed by Wilson Chandler. We always believed he had a ton of upside, and many still do, but I don't think he brings the intangibiles that you mention. He's not a loser or anything, but just not what you're making him out to be.
