Dwight Howard?

Post#1 » by berserker » Sat Dec 3, 2011 6:46 am

Someone more qualified than me can answer this....but do we have a shot at Howard?

If Nene doesn't want to be here, Wilson Chandler is a hot commodity, we have cap room - is it at all possible that the Nuggets could use the NY 1st, their own 1st, S&T Nene, Wilson Chandler, Koufos, and Birdman to get Howard and a filler with a bad contract?

If Howard demands a trade, Orlando could go get Bynum - but who else? No one LA has BUT Bynum is as attractive as Nene/Chandler/picks. Deron Williams has already stated he's not going to resign in New Jersey, so they're out. He won't sign for the minimum to join the Heat. Indiana for Granger and Hibbert? Maybe, but doubtful. Clippers? They're not trading Griffin, period. No one else on that squad is worth it. I just don't see a ton of options for Orlando to have a solid team moving forward without improving several positions in their lineup.

This trade would benefit both teams, IMO - but it depends on Dwight Howard.

With a lineup of Ty/Miller, Afflalo/(please resign JR)/Hamilton, Gallinari/Forbes, Harrington/Faried, Dwight/Mozgov, it would be an attractive team to join.

What do you think? Would ORL hang up the phone, or potentially listen? Thanks for your constructive comments in advance.

Nene opted out of his contract, so he'd actually have to want to go to ORL in order for that to get done. Additionally, Chandler is a RFA that can't play until March. So he'd also have to be on board with signing an extension to be of any value.

The biggest issue is Howard and his willingness to sign an extension. If he's not going to a much bigger market or obvious championship contender, I think he'd prefer to stay in ORL. The trade you proposed would be a lateral move in his eyes, I think.

He opted out because he would lose 43 million dollars if he extended instead of opting out, it has nothing to do with his intentions on staying or leaving the Nets.

Was just browsing for info on Nene when I came across that, wanted to make it clear.

Dwight or Deron or Paul will never come here.

We would definitely have the cap space and potentially trade assets to make it happen but they'll never agree to an extension.

Our FO got tons of work. Dwight dream is senseless people!

I would go for Gasol hard while we talk to Nene as a plan B. If somehow we able to get Gasol for 4 year deal, then tank this season from the first game for high pick. Keep Chandler, J.R in the pocket just in case while they are in China.
George Karl !
