Next 2 games vs Lakers

Post#1 » by Ice32 » Sat Dec 31, 2011 1:23 am

Playing the Lakers is going to be a challenge with Bynum returning to their team after his 4 game suspension. Kobe is playing at a high level averaging 27 ppg and Gasol seems to have found his confidence again. Metta has produced well off the bench and the role players Kapono, Blake, Barnes, Fisher are all chipping in well.

Whilst the Nuggets are first in the NBA is points per game, they are 27th in points allowed, and LA are one of the better defensive teams right now.

George Karl is going to have to rely on 9 players, and ensure that our bigs control the paint, and that Afflalo/Miller/Brewer can somehow contain Kobe. Gallo, Rudy, Afflalo need to rebound from their poor shooting effort vs the Blazers, and Ty needs to penetrate as much as possible and draw fouls on LAs bigs. Nene needs to be active early and look to score, and Big Al/Miller need to provide a scoring boost off the bench.

Ty Lawson is going to destroy Derek Fisher. I'm looking forward to that.

gallinari you blew it. such a bad game by him. I'm wondering what is going on, he gets touches but his shooting has been horrendous this season. get in the gym and shoot until your arms fall off. no excuse to be shooting so bad. George Karl needs to stop playing two point guards. it does not work on teams like the lakers who have tremendous size. play mozgov more next game. give him 28+ minutes. He makes mistakes but it's better than playing undersized the whole game. afflalo needs to finish the game. he is our best defender. no excuse to not have him on the floor. Leave birdman on the bench, give koufos some minutes and give him a chance to prove himself. Birdman has played horrendous.

Past 2 games there are many holes on this team.

Rudy Fernandez sucks. Period. As many bad shots as JR takes, I'd take a JR bad shot over any Rudy Fernandez shot. We really need to completely bench him and use Corey Brewer or find another backup 2 instead. He's not cut out to be an NBA rotation player.

No excuse for Ty Lawson and Gallinari's pathetic 4th quarter stretch. None whatsoever. Lawson missing FTs and getting outrebounded by Derek Fisher. I'm not going to bother with Gallo. We're looking like a first round exit team again with these guys being pathetic in 4th quarters.

Birdman needs to be traded or never play outside of garbage minutes again.

Koufos needs to play. Karl needs to use a 10 man rotation like he did last year. We have depth and he's not using it. Why George why?

So yeah. We need a better backup 2 guard and perhaps a better backup big. I wouldn't mind Chandler at all when he returns from China.

Danilo is in a difficult moment with his shot, this is obvious, but defensively he played really great in every situation, especially on Kobe Bryant.. Maybe the 2 horrible mistakes in the end will give him motivation to get over his problems and become stronger.

Im wondering a few things:

Why didn't Gallo dunk that ball? He could have finished that play a lot better, and whilst his outside shot isn't falling, he should be driving and drawing more fouls, he has a great 1st step. He should be our go to guy in the 4th, maybe he's just not ready for that.

Why is Rudy playing 28 mpg??? He's not that good and his stats are proving that. He is a bad shooter. Sure he gets a few assists, but those minutes could be split with someone else.

Why is George Karl not playing Brewer?? Just 30 seconds over the last 2 games? Didn't Denver want Brewer badly for his length and defensive abilities. Throw him on Kobe for 10 mins and he would have made him work harder.

If Afflalo just signed for 43 million, he should damn well start playing like he's worth it.

Does anyone here think that this starting 5 could change soon? Heres my thoughts for a 10 man rotation:

Mozgov - 28, Nene - 10, Anderson - 10
Nene - 28, Harrington - 20
Gallo - 28, Brewer - 20
Afflalo - 28, Rudy - 20
Lawson - 28, Miller - 20

Rudy is just chucking it up without any care to make it, you can see it in his shot just throwing up some desperate shots. Awful. George is coming back on my nerve on not using Kosta when Bird is continuously sucking out there. I like Mozgov in this one cause he is adjusting to a game quicker.

Gallo needs to get out of the slump, it is sad to see him miss them open threes and that lay up with the chance to tie was just unreal.

Bright spot is Al in a good shape & feeling it.

PS. Karl needs adjust to the depth he has, otherwise it's not worth having them plus them ones sucking on the floor will have less worries & focus. Apply some pressure to the PT. Our road game issues continues, hopefully next one at home will be better.

Galo is idiot... :curse:

Big Al is the only Nugget I'm really satisfied so long. He even got his firts assist this season

Denver played good defense on Kobe but Bynum totally destroyed us. Fourth quarters were pretty bad last two games.
