Dre to Lakers?

Post#1 » by Ice32 » Sun Jan 15, 2012 11:02 pm

According to Fox Sports, theres talk that the Lakers are interested in Andre Miller:

http://sports.gather.com/viewArticle.ac ... 4981025571

Makes sense for LA as Steve Blake will miss up to a month with an injury, but what would Denver get out of it or need from the Lakers?

Dre has 7.8 million owing. The only thing I could think of is the TPE they have worth 8.9 million that they got from Dallas for the Lamar Odom trade. This gives Denver more cap space to offer Gallo a contract extension sooner rather than later. Would give Denver a core of Nene, Afflalo, Harrington, Gallo, Ty, Brewer, Anderson, Mozzy, Faried for next season, and the minutes this year would be:

C - Mozzy - 16, Nene - 12, Anderson - 12, Koufos - 8
PF - Nene - 20, Harrington - 24, Gallo - 4
SF - Gallo - 30, Brewer - 18
SG - Afflalo - 32, Rudy - 16
PG - Ty - 34, Rudy - 8, Stone - 6

Dre can't shoot the three but he can nail that 18-20 footer no? It would be the TPE and essentially financial savings.

Shooting the 3 is not his specialty, but he is a crafty scorer, pass first PG, and a decent defender.

Steve Blake is out for up to a month, so the bench scoring and backup PG spot are much needed in LA.

Unless Gilbert Arenas comes into play?

There is no way he would backup Fisher, not a chance. 36 mins of Andre vs. 36 mins of Fisher/Blake is actually a nice improvement.

i wouldn't just want the tpe. they need to give us a first rounder and their rookie darius morris. i'd probably do that. i wouldn't just give him away for a tpe.

then move on, no way denver trades a guy like miller for a tpe. a late first rounder and a 2nd rd draft pick rookie for a pg like miller is really nothing for a team who is trying to win a championship now, not in 5 years.

Denver can't even get the TE, we're under the cap.

Darius Morris looks like he might be a solid player in a year or two. Could be a solid 12-18MPG backup PG to Lawson. If you could get TPE plus Morris and a 1st it'd be a solid deal for Denver (assuming Dre really is unhappy with his role in Denver)

Lakers have 2 first for 2012 and made their pick last year I think? Get their pick and dallas's and steve blake and call it a day depending on what blakes injury looks like and how much his contract is. And ship the bird to the clippers please. We gotta open up some playing time if karl isn't gonna do it I think our team would be better with addition by subtraction at this point. I'm ok with 10 minutes for stone and 10 for rudy as back up while blake gets healthy. And the bird move would open up time for koufus and faried.

I would rather not see andre traded for the Lakers, especially for a couple of late picks. he is a very productive PG, that would go a long way to fixing their problems.

I am sure they can find another team that would love to have him, just have to look around a little more.

Agreed with Rebel.

I have no desire to have anything to do with helping the Lakers without a lot of compensation. Miller is fine in Denver. Let him expire after this season.

Yeah, we're not going to give Dre away for nothing when it'll clearly make a conference rival significantly better. A TPE or expiring contracts have no value when we're already under the cap and Andre expires at the end of the season anyway.

I agree that we should just play out the season and let him walk if he gets a better offer elsewhere. We're going to need that money to re-sign Gallinari, potentially Chandler, and Lawson next year. Karl seems to like Julyan Stone, maybe he can be developed into a quality backup point guard.

agree but if he does walk than there is no harm done if we trade him for a draft pick. even if we do give him to the lakers, he is 35 so he won't be around much longer.on financial talks the nuggets need to move birdman. if we give gallo an extension (which is looking likely) we won't have the cap space to re-sign chandler and lawson. we need to build around our core of gallo, lawson, nene, afflalo, and possibly chandler(is it smart to move him? if we get something good than yes we have to move him). Everyone is replaceable but we need to find guys that fit. brewer has proved to be a nice find and would be good moving forward for us at the back up 2 & 3. faried just needs to play, we need to know what he is capable of doing. what if there is another strong pf we could draft. do we pass or do we draft him? we need to know if faried is a backup or a future starting pf. hamilton has been a disappointment so far( i've watched some of his d-league games) just looks like a headcase out there similar to J.R., he does have a nature ability to score and rebound but his defense is weak. hamilton might find some playing time though as he has been recalled. rudy is out and that means extra minutes for someone.

Just let him play and expire here in Denver. Ty is the guy but i feel bit safer when Miller holding a ball in crunch time really & he is a very solid veteran leader out there for this young team.

Yeah, we have enough trade exceptions as it is. Don't need to strengthen the Lakers just to add another one.
