Why don't the Nuggets attempt to go after Dwight Howard?

Post#1 » by slipspeed » Sat Feb 4, 2012 11:09 pm

And I think they could do it without giving up Ty Lawson too. Having Wilson Chandler's RFA rights, all they have to do is re-sign him and trade Gallinari/Nene/Trade Exception for Dwight/Hedo. Maybe throw in Andre Miller (he's going to leave anyways) if they want somebody else.

I think that's one of the better offers Orlando will get. Brook Lopez isn't that great and it doesn't seem like he wants to go to LA.

As far as making Dwight happy, let's look at the Nuggets roster.
Ty Lawson
Aaron Afflalo
Wilson Chandler
Timofey Mozgov
Dwight Howard

Bench:
Rudy/Al Harrington/Hedo/Koufos

That roster would be everything Dwight would want to play with. He'll be in the spotlight on a young, unselfish team. He'll be on a team not following in anybody's footsteps. More importantly he will be playing under coach George Karl who PREACHES the inside out game and would guarantee Dwight's involvement in almost every play (pick and roll with Ty or a post up). If Dwight actually cares about winning like he says he does, why wouldn't he stay?

I have no doubt that we could put together one of the most attractive packages for Orlando, but there is no way Dwight re-signs here. He's selfish and wants to play in the spotlight.

He wants nothing but a fame and winning right away. There is no way Denver will even think about trade for Howard. Only way if there is a slight to no chance is maybe to try him if he is FA passed this season without gutting the current team after a solid run this year proving everyone we have a piece or two away from being a contender.

Because Dwight doesn't want to be in Denver

I doubt he would. But even if he did, do you think that's a good thing? Isn't the 'secret' of the succes of the Nuggets team how they're playing now, without a real hierarchy offensively and an offense where one player is involved in almost every possession?

I'll trade all them mofos for him as long as Ty, Gallo, Wilson, Nene, AA is untouched as I posted in their thread

I would give em a future 1st rounder though, not this one. After he see we win the championship, cause we definitely will, he'll resign. If he dont wouldnt we have plenty of cap space ? Idk im not into the cap thing

Going to be hard to pull off a trade if one of those players were not involved. Honestly, I'd give up Nene and Al, even if Dwight was almost certain to walk. But then again, I didn't ever want Nene to be signed really.

It's as good as any offer they are likely to get from New Jersey. Not as good as the Lakers offer of Bynum. Realize there's no chance this trade would be agreed to on either side though.

They better learn from us. Getting something > nothin at all. In their case, outside of 2 players they're not that good or special

They'll get value for him or they will just let him walk and take millions less in free agency. They should be able to get Bynum at minimum, if they want him.
