you know it's getting bad

Post#1 » by corona » Fri Feb 10, 2012 5:51 am

when there's no game thread.

pretty painful to watch.

the team's lost all its fire and confidence from early in the season.
defensive rotations are just bad and/or lazy, with too much reaching and gambling going on
ball's not moving as crisply, too much dribbling, passing around the perimeter with no intent to make something happen.

ty looks at least a step slow compared to the first week, and he takes a backseat to dre every time they're on the court together.
nene has been lacking pretty much all around
aaa's still trying to do too much without much success
harrington has lost the shooting touch and aggressiveness he had earlier
and fernandez is just garbage....i didn't know it was this easy to make jr smith look like an efficient player with good defensive instincts.

not sure how to turn this around. they definitely need to sit down and watch a couple games from earlier in the year though....even though they were shooting terribly, they were still blowing teams out with defense & hustle & passing. gotta get back to that, gallo or not.

i think it's time to trade miller. i don't think it would hurt the overall quality of the team but build a better chemistry between our players. injuries have hurt us like crazy but it should not have this kind of effect. something has to change though.

i'm fairly optimistic, not of this season but of the next. and i'm not saying this season is over and we don't have any chances of regaining out position but next season, with less chances of plaguing injuries, we will have the ability to out run everybody we play.

we already showed it this season starting a 14-6 record with a relatively healthy squad. yes there were a few injuries here and there but it just goes to show how our depth wins games. take out gallo, mozgov and brewer, and we become too disorganized and pretty below average squad.

afflalo hasn't been stable due to his contract but i get it. i'm still sure he'll get back into his usual self.

we're on a rocky road right now, but i think the future still has promise.

GSW came to our house and punked on our team and they let them......... Curry was acting like he was on top of the world.

Guys look all out of gas especially Al just dying out there. Don't know, it seems like they are waiting on All Star break to come along or something just no fight at all.

That lineup Karl put in midway through the 4th looked much better and these are the boldness Karl needs to do early in the game.

I would start to use Stone more along with Faried and possibly some PT to Hamilton. To me it looks like guys are just out of juice out there & Karl's defensive mind not allowing him to use our depth deep enough had put the team through this and schedule being condensed really helps out big time.

Whilst its disappointing to see Denver lose games and hit a bad run of luck with injuries, its gonna happen to most teams if it hasn't already. Take a look at whats happened in the West so far over the last 3 weeks:

Lakers last 13 games - 6 wins and 7 losses - 46%
Dallas last 13 games - 7 wins and 6 losses - 54%
Memphis last 10 games - 3 wins and 7 losses - 30%
Portland last 17 games - 7 wins and 10 losses - 41%
Denver last 14 games - 7 wins and 7 losses - 50%

Biggest difference is - Denver has had Nene, Afflalo, Ty, Rudy, Mozzy, Gallo and Brewer all miss games. They are all vital pieces to this club.

I believe that Denver can turn it around quickly, we are a great road team. 5 of our next 7 games are away and with Mozzy and Brewer hopefully back this weekend, and some adjustments here and there, Coach Karl will get us back on the winning track.

Sure its going to take time, but we are not out of the Playoff race yet, and this season, anything can happen in the Playoffs. If we get a 5-8 seed in the Playoffs, no home team is going to want to face us.

Coach Karl said yesterday that Brewer should be back vs Indy, so I think you will see:

PG - Ty - 34, Miller - 14
SG - AAA - 34, Miller - 14
SF - Brewer - 24, Rudy - 24
PF - Faried - 18, Big Al - 30
C - Nene - 34, Bird - 14

Brewer & Faried in the starting 5 will hopefully be the energy burst this team needs right now. AAA had his shot falling yesterday, hopefully that continues.

Right now, Denver MUST play defense and commit to it, thats what got us to 14-5 not long ago, the points just followed. Defense leads to offense.

Do you guys think there is a chance Galo could be back before the ASG?

I'm thinking about pick him up for my fantasy team. Also, any sites you guys visit for Nuggets news and updates?

Thanks, good luck to your team, they are fun to watch when healthy.

No chance Gallo is back by ASG - he said he's out a month
