Retitle the thread Afflalo's road to suspension.
Respect for him dropped a notch or two last night.

he doesn't have a history of being that type of player.
one incident isn't going to change his behavior either, so i see no reason why anybody should dwell on this single outburst.
if you want to talk about respect we can have a personal conversation about past years outcomes.
everybody knows that playing in utah, most calls go their way. perfect example is how mcgee went for the ball, completely avoided favors' head and yet still got a flagrant, an absolute nonsense call.

Avoiding the head doesn't allow you to hit the arms as hard as possible

"as hard as possible" maybe to a utah fan. this is what a flagrant around the league looks like.

compared to this?

it was nothing more than a hard foul for favors who was going up with strong momentum. fact is, the refereeing will always be skewed in utah.

keep it classy.
glad to see something original for once.
most of our guys are actual upstanding players with pretty good reputations. show me who on the roster mirrors the likes of jr or kmart -- personality-wise?

Sorry about this. The Nuggets obviously have cleaned house of their negative image. What happened that night, happens every night. Players are always talking during games, being physical and getting in each others head. Who knows what exactly provoked it, but I'm sure the Jazz player did something too.

Yep--with Hayward's reputation as a trash talker I'm sure he deserved to get clocked in the face going for a rebound like that.

At least clockwork seemed to see the humor in my post.

http://www.nba.com/analysis/rules_12.htmlElbow fouls, which make contact above shoulder level, and punching fouls, although recorded as both personal and team fouls, are unsportsmanlike acts. The player will be ejected immediately.

Afflalo's explanation:
http://blogs.denverpost.com/nuggets/2012/03/24/nuggets-arron-afflalo-talks-ejection/6198/
This is what Afflalo said about the play.
“It was a bad play on my part,” he said. “I just kind of got frustrated with the game a little bit and tried to battle a few possessions here and there. A couple things I thought got missed (by referees) that were kind of blatant in terms of pushing off and pushing in the back – still no excuse to make a play like that.”

Oh, well I expected that it was Hayward who might oh got under his skin, but I guess it was the refs who frustrated him. I never said it wasn't a stupid move on Affalo's part, but people do things out of frustration at times, and it's not usually part of their persona. I haven't seen Affalo enough to say for sure, but I imagine Affalo is usually not a hot tempered guy.

At least clockwork seemed to see the humor in my post.I don't think Afflalo is a punk but I still don't know how you defend or justify that elbow. And sorry--flagrant 2 fouls don't happen "every night" and are such elbows are clearly illegal:
http://www.nba.com/analysis/rules_12.htmlElbow fouls, which make contact above shoulder level, and punching fouls, although recorded as both personal and team fouls, are unsportsmanlike acts. The player will be ejected immediately.
i named the mcgee flagrant as the example of ridiculous treatment in utah, as russnumber3 quoted me on, not the afflalo one.
afflalo's flagrant wasn't justified and i agree with the call, the mcgee one, absolutely not.
but whatever, to be honest i don't care anymore. our season has been plagued with injuries so it's frustrating enough when you know you have a good team but can't show anything for it. it's even more tiring to keep adding things..

Re: DENVER @ UTAH - ROAD TO REDEMPTION
Well the definition of flagrant 1 is just "unnecessary and/or excessive contact". You aren't likely to get the benefit in a game where someone was tossed for an elbow punch to the head. Any "hard" foul in that context would be considered escalating.
