I'm really getting tired of this.

Had a lineup in the 4th that was working. Karl decides to call a timeout, ignore Ty Lawson for 3 straight possessions (and run a play for a Kenneth Faried jumper) and for some reason put Corey Brewer in to finish the game.

This team is absolutely terrible down the stretch in close games. So frustrating to watch.

The problem is not a lack of a closer so much as it is that stupid package that Karl likes to go to at the end of the game, where we have no real size, and no real outside shooter on the court.

I was gonna praise Ty Lawson till he sucked as always in clutch. Brewer great in first half. Iggy and Faried terrible.

Especially in the playoffs closing out games and series comes down to getting key stops in the 4th quarter and finishing on key possessions in the half court down the stretch. The Denver Nuggets are not a half court team and they do not execute well in the half court. The biggest reason for this is that we really only know how to play one way at a breakneck pace. The coaching staff has not been able to make this a more balanced team. Sure you want to run and get to the rim. But when that doesn't happen you need to execute and work for a good shot. If denver did that they'd have less overall possessions, the field goal percentage would be higher... and that means the other team is now taking the ball out from under the basket at a greater rate which slows them down and allows us to set our defense.

This is just common sense coaching you see at all levels of basketball. Balanced coached up teams beat more athletic teams at all levels on a given day. We need a head or assistant coach that can install a good half court set.

Until the Nuggets can execute in the half court... they will not contend.
