pickIBL wrote:Well I suppose we should applaud if anything... the trade has worked out fine for us. And I have moved on from this, but I read that piece as well. One thing Melo did not mention is that he wanted to go to New York. To fail to mention that when considering how it all went down illustrates the exact issue we fans have with players like Carmelo. For his and his girl's reasons... he wanted to be in NY... and that was a huge part of all this... that's why we couldn't trade him anywhere else... so for him not to acknowledge that... I have no problem with fans that take a big issue with him... because I'd have a lot more respect for him if he just said... Hey I felt like I had a good hand... and I played it. I wanted to go to NY and I made it happen. Fine, no problem... it worked out for Denver too... let's move on. But for Melo to be dishonest like this... and for Spears not to hold him accountable... is pure BS.

his preference was ny, but that was not the only place he was willing to go. if the knicks were unwilling to make it happen who knows where he would be now. possibly still a nugget since the gm and coach both pleaded with him to sign an extension.

Saying Melo helped the Nugges unlike LeBron and Bosh is bs.

Unlike Cleveland and Toronto, Denver took the initiative and gave him an ultimatum of extend or be traded. We didn't sit on our ass waiting to lose him for nothing, otherwise our situation would've been exactly the same as Cleveland and Toronto.

Melo did not get us a trade. Masai did.

Yea but Melo didn't lead Denver on to thiinking he would re-sign, Like Bron, Bosh and Dwight did. If Masai gets credit for the trade Melo deserves credit for making basketball relevant in Colorado again

not true. why bother posting on the subject when you have no idea what you're talking about?

You must be remembering something totally different then I do, I remember rumors that he was going to sign throughout the summer before that season, then a supposed meeting with his agent and Ujiri where he was supposed to resign, and then the Nuggets reportedly giving him an ultimatum to sign prior to a certain date or they were going to trade him.

Well sure during that time i'm sure he was making his decision....He didn't flirt with staying in Denver nearly as much as Lebron or Dwight. What was he supposed to do? Come out a year early and say he wouldn't resign. Is there anyway he could have left that you all wouldn't be bitter about...?

Man can we keep this good play up long enough to get a first round win? We are playing on another level...and we're still only the 5th seed :(

While I do think if we were able to extend him a year earlier, he would still be a Nugget today, I think LeBron and Bosh going to Miami pretty much ended the Nuggets getting an extension with Melo.

Anybody else begin to think what might have been while watching this game? Just think Melo supposedly wanted to leave due to the pending free agency of Kmart, JR, Nene, and Chauncey not to mention the Nuggets dumping Camby, if they had done what Melo seems to be saying he wanted the Nuggets could be the Knicks right now replace Amare with Nene missing half the season, and that may have been where we ended up. guess the Melo deal was not so bad.

Make up one game with the win and another because of the tie breaker.

Rebel's account seems pretty accurate on Melo. At one point during the summer it was a done deal and Melo just had the formality of getting the paperwork done... which was exactly what was being said on both sides. Then at somepoint Melo's camp took a step back and decided he'd "keep his options open".

So Melo definitely did lead the Nuggets fanbase on even if just for a bit that he had agreed in principal to the extension. I didn't see the resolution turning out so well on our end so I was hoping our FO would be firmer with Melo than they were. I wish they would have sat him down and said NO trade, No sign & trade... you go into the CBA as an UFA and take your chances with the new CBA that will be in favor of the teams due to the economy. And every game you play without the guaranteed money you take a big risk.

That was my stance and I still fully believe it would have worked as Melo was not prepared to take less money as he would have had to do. But in hindsight it worked out well for us.

To Knick fans... you got the guy you wanted... he & his lady basically forced it... so "shut the front door"

Best thing the nuggets did was making this trade with the desperate knicks. the nuggs and nets played dolan like a fiddle... that pretty much was the last straw for me, and I have been a knick fan for over 30 years.. I liked the way Denver has done business for some time now, and I as of the trade pretty much have adopted Denver as my other team, which is now the team I prefer to watch.. I am tired of this loyalty crap.. if the ownership isn't loyal to the fans, then why be loyal to their team.... The nuggets did a great job getting value for a player that honestly wasn't a true superstar and pretty much a one way player.... they also got picks for the future.. I say good job by denver management and it is evident, the nuggets are much better than the knicks are right now... what a job done by this nugget organization...
