if i had one free murder to use in life, with no repercussions, i think i'd cash it in on a tmz cameraman.

Drinking and partying sets a bad example because most of the college kids trying to get a small contract overseas can't get away with it and still be good enough. At least we don't have a JR Smith on our hands getting in the front seat. I just got a chuckle out of it... it is the off season and he posed for pictures and signed autographs.

Example? Being a 23 year old man going out and having a good time in the offseason, and making the right choice not to drive, is not a bad example. It is being a responsible 23 year old man.
Fact is I don't care, it is not a big deal to me, it is not like the 3 top players are being filmed drunk off their ass at 4 in the morning after a game on the 1st night of a back to back on the road. Like what was floating around with AI, Melo, and JR. If Faried or any other player chooses to go have a good time responsibly during the off season then good for them especially when they go out of their way to avoid trouble during the season.

I don't think pro athletes or athletes with pro ambition should drink, smoke, or do drugs. I realize that sounds off base considering many do... but those are my personal expectations. At the small college level I'd bench a kid for it. If I was paying a guy even just a few grand a month I would have that rule... break it and risk getting cut.
But the reality is NBA players (many of them) do drink. Drinking and being the best basketball player you can be does not mix.

In a situation like that --drunk Faried, pushy TMZ reporter who's trying to get an interview despite having no idea who Faried even is-- there could have been a much worse outcome.
I have no problem with it. I think Faried came off as genuinely funny and likeable and handled it pretty well, all things considered. Even in the thread on the GB, the general consensus seems to be positive.
If you have a problem with NBA players getting drunk, that's just something you're going to have to get over. It happens. At least Faried is doing it in the offseason and being responsible about it.

Everything in moderation.
It's his personal choice. If he's responsible about it, all the better because then young athletes understand you don't need to be saturated, but it's ok to enjoy yourself especially in the off season or once during a special occasion.
Just like anything you do or don't do enough of, like workouts, it shows up on the court eventually. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Honestly, more fans set a bad example with drinking than any athlete could ever dream of.
The line is drawn when an athlete starts drinking the night before games, or anytime during the season, or gets behind the wheel of an automobile. At that point I've lost all respect. These guys get paids millions to stay sober and be examples of prime health, it's not like they're broke and need some escape.

a celebrity drunk? what's the world coming to!
he handled it like a pro though. good parents taught him good manners even if the camera guy deserves to get ko'ed.

So many NBA guys would have turned that into an ugly situation and possibly would have gotten their entourage involved in kicking the guy's ass. Faried is a 23 year old guy, he's gonna party, especially since its the summer. Its no different than any profession, sometimes everyone needs to unwind.

"I'm a sexy individual" lmao. I thought he was a pretty good sport about the whole thing, as opposed to Lamar Odom (who I don't blame one bit for emptying that car onto the street).

Faried is a good dude... no doubt... raised right.
The reality is that some lobbying groups win and some fail... Weed is illegal... smoking is horrible for us... but guns and booze are great. Just a lobbying and PR battle that big business pours money into. Some win, some lose.
If you actually research what alcohol does to your body as even a social drinker you come to my conclusions if you look at it from a coaching standpoint. Faried can't post, can't shoot... isn't a tree... he is all heart, effort, and athleticism... he is the last guy who should be drinking... at all.
The union would never allow it but in HS, college, or overseas I'd ban it for anyone on the squad. No issues with anyone who wants to drink responsibly... unless of course you want to suit up for me.
I've seen guys kick the **** and their conditioning and energy improves... you drink and you end up bloated like Tinsley.

It's amazing the scrutiny these kids are under these days.....I thought it was slightly funny, light when it comes to what TMZ normally nabs.
That being said look across I-25 at what the Broncos have going on or the Pats for that matter. This is nothing
Ty Lawson wearing a Raptors and Magic hat is probably a bigger deal than this....and that doesn't matter either.
