General Strengths / Weaknesses

Post#1 » by pickaxe » Sat Aug 3, 2013 11:32 pm

So, with Nate signed, JaVale and Mozzy at Center, and a young coach I'm sensing there will be a boost in overall energy. I'm curious how the defense will be effective -it will be effective, just different.

We have low key personalities and explosive personalities (in a good way) and a passionate fan base.

I can see strengths such as:

1) Uptempo to the Nth degree
2) Featuring massive Centers that can physically overwhelm an opponent
3) Even more athleticism if that was possible
4) Fresh outlook with a strong core intact

Weaknesses I'm not as clear on yet:

1) Backcourt size
2) Consistency....will it get better, or be a work in progress
3) Leadership (I know it's there, are we going to see it)
4) Free throws

Depending on how much Shaw changes our offense, I think our strengths on the offensive end will be somewhat similar to last year except with way better shooting.

Would not be surprised if we end up as one of the better shooting teams. Our bench and depth is also much better. It's nice to finally have a scorer/shooter off the bench with Nate and Foye and possibly Hamilton.

Weakness is defense. Losing Iggy was a big hit. Despite what he said, Foye has never proven to be a good defender. The sample size on Fournier was too small to gauge on his defense last season. What it feels like is that the FO is putting everything on Shaw to make them a good defensive team.I think we lack that elite 1v1 defensive guy to guard SGs/SFs and it could give us problems, maybe it can be WC.
