Next HC of the Nuggets

Post#1 » by eathb_au » Thu Mar 12, 2015 7:11 am

I think we could use a new thread on this.

Who does everyone want? Billups? Mike Malone? MDA?

At this point, I'd be happy to just give offer Hunt the job so we can go back to tanking.

Not a fan of MDA, been there already. Chauncey is interesting, think he could related to today's player and would have their respect, but does he know the X's and O's ??? Hunt has definitely worked himself into an interview, just really don't know what level he can take us to. I don't know enough about Malone to comment on.

Hunt seems to know how to win in Denver, a little too soon to give him the job but he's certainly a strong candidate.

D'Antonio maybe, Billups no, Jackson no, Thibs maybe

An interesting local name that doesn't have enough seasoning yet is Becky Hammon. Not sure if she'll climb the NBA ranks but having played college ball here it would be cool if she got a shot on the bench in Denver one day.

I could see Hunt as HC and bring in Billups as an asst coach, would love to see some of that !!

Hammonds is a good BB mind but can't see a woman HC in this league...yet.

I wouldn't be opposed to giving the job to Hunt. He knows the players and they clearly respect and respond to what he has to say. Working under Karl all those years, he understands what made those teams successful and why Shaw was such a disaster. I have as much confidence in him being able to find a balance between the two as any other new face TC might be considering.

Guess Faried, Lawson and Barton are telling us Hunt is HC material....

Melvin Hunt is the anti-Shaw. Just give him the HC job now and we can get the tank back on track.

Melvin Hunt would be my favorite, he's got them playing very well right now. Chauncey wants to be in the FO and they should definitely give him a position there.

And the players are willing to give strong efforts. Hunt is utilizing their talents, not stifling them like Shaw did. It was like hitching a plow up to race horses  . I too like Billups in the FO or an asst coach, think he could do well at both.

Hunt should be praised for turning the team around not only on the court but in the locker room, why not give him a 1 year deal?

Probably because nobody is going to take a 1 year deal to become a head coach, right now Hunt will be a highly sought after candidate this next offseason or the following one if the Nuggets do not keep him as head coach. Personally I am fine with giving him a full 3 year deal like all coaches require, not only has the team played well, but they are happier, and at least with Hunt he can design a play out of time outs.

I actually don't see many teams having that much turmoil this off season when it comes to coaching staffs. Thibs might be a king in exile in Chicago, Hollins MIIIIGHT get the boot but Billy King is still there....Byron Scott is gone.

Wittman a likely goner.

Like honestly if Hunt was to go all bobby big dick on us and try his luck in free agency as a coach, who would be the most interested?

I could see jobs opening in Charlotte, Chicago, houston, the Twolves still need a coach, the Magic need a permanent coach, and the Wizards.

although it may take Hunt 2 years.

But no decent head coaching candidate is going to take a 1 year contract, that would be stupid, you have no control in the lockerroom as they know the ownership is not backing you, and they know that if they do not like you they can get rid of you quickly.

As for who would be interested, considering Flip did not want to coach this year but had to after adelman stepped down I can see them wanting a guy like Hunt. Hell the Magic are in desperate need of a guy who can coach, and I can see the Wizards wanting him as well.

you see it is not only the wins that will help him get the job, it is his attitude, and the fact that he is drawing up plays that work out of time outs, he has the guys trying on defense, and to top it off he is saying all the right things in the media. If he does not get a good offer this offseason, I can see him going to work for Karl a year with the Kings making the huge jump I am expecting, and Hunt will likely be the biggest name out there in 2 years.

Just when I think this season could not get any more bizarre, we bench our three best players because Josh Kroenke's dog tore his ACL.

I would have been a lot more happy if Josh would have just came out and said something like we're winning too many games and we don't want that winning culture in our locker room until next year.

Listening to local radio, hearing that Hunt is less than a 50/50 shot to get the gig, strong possibility for D'Antoni....not real happy with that at ALL.
