“[Malone and myself] did a lot of talking,” Gallinari said to Mark Woods during EuroBasket 2015. “Same with his senior assistants. I talked to everybody. We’ll be a run-and-gun team, that’s what we need to do in Denver. Run more than the others. It’s going to be tough in the Western Conference, but if we stay healthy, I think we have the chance to do something nice.”
“I believe with playing fast but more importantly to me is playing with efficiency,” Malone said.
Unlike with Brian Shaw, I AM fairly optimistic about Malone as the new coach.
I am also happy to hear that they are going to play uptempo. And I definitely expect that he will insist on better team and man D.
I assume his comment above about play with efficiency refers to the past two years under Shaw who, for much of that time did not emphasize the uptempo style of George Karl.
I do believe that if the offense can simply return to the efficiency and productivity of Karl's last year while making a reasonable step forward defensively, the Nuggets can be the surprise team of the WC this year.

Re: Interestin article on Malone/Gallo/Nuggets style of play
Shaw bragged about how the Nuggets were a top 5 team in tempo, the problem with Shaw (among many others was that he did not understand efficiency), he seemed to encourage guys to take long 2s, and on defense to only guard inside the 3 point line, both terrible and outdated ideas if you want to win in today's NBA. Under Shaw the Nuggets were top 5 pace but bottom 7 efficiency on offense and bottom 3 efficiency on defense, so they lost far more than they won. Under Karl the Nuggets were top 2 in pace but also top 5 in offensive and above average on defensive efficiency which allowed them to win 57 games. Pace is nowhere near as important as taking good shots and forcing the opponents into bad shots.

Hard to see the Nuggets playing any other way. like what Rebel added about efficiency...definitely see Malone looking for that.
On a side note...1 week until training camp...Woo Hoo !
