I don't mind the deal with the leadership and experience he brings he should be worth it, not to mention he went to the Wade meeting despite not having a deal in place.

Re: Mike Miller to re-sign
When I saw him go to the Wade meeting and saw him at summer league, I was fairly certain they had a gentleman's agreement already in place. Let's face it, any young player that's signed to be the 13-15 guy isn't going to get much playing time. Miller is a nice team-oriented guy to have and he obviously knows he won't get a lot of playing time. Yet if things go nuts with injuries, he can provide some relief for those left to play and the guy can still shoot. He's a nice "coach" to have on the team. Now I'm wondering if he's planning to move to staff at the end of this contract.

I'm fine with this. Haven't seen it reported anywhere, but I'm guessing the 2nd year is partially guaranteed.
By my count, this leaves one roster spot left for Toupane/Sampson/Hernangomez.

Would LOVE to see Mike turn into a shooting coach here now with Dee Brown leaving. Mike is such a positive guy to be around !!

Hadn't thought about it that way but with Brown leaving, Miller's the perfect replacement. His stroke is mighty fine and he appears to be good at teaching shooting and good at doing it.

"If I have to make him an assistant coach, player-coach, whatever,” Malone said. “Mike Miller has been tremendous.”

Also seems like a "Thank You" payback contract for being the consummate professional he is.

2nd year is totally non guaranteed. so in other words it's a one year deal

It gives the Nuggets flexibility, so it's smart. Plus that second year, if exercised, saves hassle next year. If they choose not to exercise it, most folk figure Miller will be invited to join the coaching staff.
As indicated above, he's being way overpaid and there is no doubt that's a reward for being a great lockerroom presence and for helping young players with their shooting techniques. It appears Nelson's deal is very similar except that he actually gets to play, while Miller, if used, seems to be only able to play a few minutes. His got some miles on his body and that affects people at different rates.
