I'm sure this thread will get a lot of different subjects over the next week or so, but here's my first thought:
I'm a bit confused about training at Creighton rather than here in Denver. Sure, the facilities seem to be better, but isn't training in Denver's altitude more of a benefit with conditioning ?? Most Olympic athletes come here for that exact reason and when we take that conditioning to sea-level it seems to allow an endurance edge. I read they were running 90-95 minutes non-stop, but is the nicer training facilities going to benefit us in the long run ??

Re: Training camp
Well they have 20 guys in camp this year and the gym below the Pepsi Center won't support that many guys. If I'm correct it's only one full court floor with hoops on the side as well. I think they're only out there a week and then they start traveling for games. Almost all of the players have either played here for a few years or were here all summer so I'm not too concerned about the conditioning.
I read that Altitude won't be broadcasting any of the preseason games. Way to muster up excitement for the season KSE.
Be nice if for once we could make it through a camp without major injury. I heard Chandler could be on a minutes restriction and Arthur just had his knee scoped. I don't think we want either of them playing heavy minutes early on anyways.

Re: Training camp
So, who starts at the PF spot ....Faried ?? Arthur ?? Jokic ?? or Hernangomez ?
I think Malone has the nards to confront Faried about moving to the bench, but will it happen or could
the Manimal be traded ???

20 guys in camp is the upper limit the NBA allows, so most teams carry 20 just so they have extra bodies for practice and those last few are happy for the $$$ and the chance to play against NBA players with a hope of someone picking them up.
I believe training camp is basically three days of practice and am not sure if they have two-a-day or just one-a-day.

If Faried doesn't start and doesn't like it and plays poorly, he'll just be hurting himself. It gives him less trade value and could lead to an earlier end to his career. But I don't think Faried will give less than a serious effort coming off the bench or starting. I totally expect Faried to be the starter at the beginning of the year but also expect Arthur to become the starter before Christmas.

Three of the preseason games are supposed to be on NBATV but Altitude has so much more important programming that they can't be bothered. Booo hissss
Chandler on restricted minutes makes sense, maybe for the whole year. Then reconsider for next year.
Arthur on restricted minutes to start the year makes sense. But with the depth we have there, it's probably not an issue.
Gallinari is the one that ought to have restricted minutes for the rest of his career. He just can't seem to make it through a season.

Faried had to have heard the footsteps, you'd think he's worked on his game to retain his starting job. Nurkic and Jokic could be pretty foul prone, I don't see them being able to play heavy minutes side-by-side, even if it's the ideal lineup.
Idk how many teams Faried would start for, demanding a trade might not be in his best interests.
No disrespect to DA but if he's starting multiple games at PF we're not sniffing the playoffs.

Hard to argue with any of that.
The center-foul issue is one reason I objected to Malone's rotation last year. Both Nurkic & Jokic developed the bad habit of intentionally fouling to stop fast breaks. Big men in the NBA need to avoid that and let the guards do that when necessary. Jerking them out with 2 early fouls and not putting them back in until late, they knew their fouls didn't matter.
Optimistically, the Nuggets might be set at center and guard but their forwards are good-to-fair for now with an outlook in 3-5 years of fair-at-best. Hernangomez might make a decent PF but like many young players, he still needs to put on some weight & muscle. He might make a better SF but the Nuggets are fairly set there for now.
Faried might willingly come off the bench for a contender, but I doubt he'll be happy doing that for the Nuggets. I think he's an ideal bench PF for anyone. His energy can be a big lift and playing against second string players might give him some much nicer stats. Arthur also seems like an ideal bench PF with his defense and better shooting but he's not a true stretch-4 which is very popular these days.
Our best PF for now might be Jokic but we don't have enough depth at center to play him there much. Not sure where Cornelie fits long-range but he's tall enough to play some center and mobile enough to play PF and maybe even SF. That's all if Cornelie is that good. Position-less basketball with Jokic-Hernangomez-Cornelie as the bigs.

Dempsey is very impressed with Mudiay, according to his recent camp report. I know it could be just puff but I think we may be in for a great season out of our point guard.
Canned in Denver.

Camp coverage has been piss poor IMO. I suppose it's unrealistic to expect the Nuggets to garner the kind of coverage the Broncos get but I think Dempsey is the only media member out there, Denverstiffs isn't even reporting anything about camp thus far.
It's all puff at this point. Dempsey says the same thing that Morton and Timmons say and none of it is all that insightful...partly because the Coach and GM have been saying the same thing for months and there's nothing new to talk about.
I picked up tickets to see the Nugs take on the Warriors Nov. 10th. Going to forgo buying any more tickets until I see what this squad has to offer.

So we are agreed that the Nuggets draft well - especially from Europe - right?
And we are agreed that the Nuggets have a lot of very nice young talent - right?
And we are agreed that the Nuggets have a nice blend of veteran talent that could be traded or could be kept - right?
And we are agreed that the Nuggets seem to have their coaching/environment heading in the right direction - right?
And we are also agreed that the Nuggets do not know how to put fans in the seats or communicate with the fans about what the fans would like to hear about or make the fans feel like the team cares - right?
<sigh> OUR Nuggets - still love them - but hey, better than a couple of years ago and a lot of years in the past.

Re: Training camp
Although the information is limited to the Denver Post, this camp seems very organized and lively. I would like to see more camp news but I think this is about all we're are going to get.
Jokic aside, Mudiay is still the key. Malone seems to be using every opportunity to build up his core players; trying to impress the need to start off by remembering where they were at the end of the season and how they can improve. His style seems to be a more cerebral approach than previous coaches. Mudiay is a target and If he can continue to progress then this team will be dangerous. A lot depends on his progression.
Additionally, the Nuggets are still sitting on a lot of cap space.
