Some stats based on the first two games

Post#1 » by NuggetsWY » Tue Nov 1, 2016 5:08 am

This is just based on two games, so the value is questionable - but I found some interesting tidbits.

The Nuggets had the fastest pace in the league but were 28th in assists. That indicates one-on-one play.
With that pace, the Nuggets were 26th in offensive efficiency and 24th in defensive efficiency. That means fast but not good.
The Nuggets led the league in turnovers.
Shooting was 27th in effective FG% and 21st in TS%.
On the other hand, the Nuggets were 4th in offensive rebounding (probably due to poor shooting with some hustle).
They were also 1st in defensive rebounding and total rebounding. That's just plain hustle and hard work.

Gallinari average the second most minutes of anyone in the league with 39.5 mpg. Probably NOT a good idea for a guy that has a history of knee issues. BTW - Nurkic averaged 24.5 to Gallinari's 39.5 but he outscored Gallinari 17.6 to 16.0.

Only four Nuggets had a PER over the NBA average: Nurkic, Jokic, Barton, Faried (in order).

Who took the most shots and their percentage?

FGA
Mudiay .... 32%
Gallinari .. 33%
Chandler . 38%

3ptA
Gallinari .. 27%
Chandler . 22%
Nelson .... 37%

I think the rebounding numbers are there to stay unless something happens to Faried/Nurkic.
