Detroit Game

Gotta run - but wanted to make some observations about tonight's game.
Detroit seems to be a tough matchup for Denver. They don't really depend on any one player. They play team ball with decent motion on offensive and they tend to cover well for each other on defense. So the Nuggets can not do much spectating when they are on the court.

Their leading scorers are Tobias Harris, Marcus Morris, Andre Drummond meaning their front court and two of those are fairly mobile. That means Denver needs three front court players that are focused on defense. Last game against them, Leuer, a backup PF had a career high in points. So it's a front court oriented team and Denver must deal with that first and foremost to defeat Detroit.

Like Denver, they are not very good at 3pt shooting. Only Beno Udrih and Caldwell-pope are at 39% or above. So it would be nice to see our guards dropping back to double their bigs or at least shade low so their bigs are worried about being doubled.

On the other hand, Drummond is the only solid rebounder they have, so Denver had better dominate here and if anybody will box out Drummond, the Nuggets should get a huge advantage on the boards.

One last thought, for all of their passing and such on offense, they still tend to do a lot of one-on-one attacking as is evidenced by their having only one man with a fair number of assists and that's Ish Smith. So if Denver hustles and switches, leaving nobody wide open, they should have a shot at winning.

I'm looking at a very sad home loss just because Denver hasn't shown those traits yet this year. Detroit should be a good matchup for Denver and a good shot at beating a playoff team. The physical matchups are good for us. It's consistency and effort that will win this game.
