Danilo Gallinari, aka "The Rooster", aka "Gallo" has been the Nuggets' leader since being traded here in 2011. He once said he didn't want to be the team leader, but he was. For most of his time with the Nuggets, Gallinari was the only player that was truly capable of going one-on-one to get a score when it was needed. Before his "lost season", he'd even switch out on a scoring PG for the last play of a tight game - and he was effective at stopping some pretty great scorers.
If his defensive effort was lacking, it was perhaps due to injuries and perhaps it was due to the extra effort he was expected to provide on offense. Perhaps he developed a small attitude problem over the last four years, but at least in my mind, I can understand that.
What I do honestly believe is that he is a quality person who gave the Nuggets the best he could do. Let us not forget that of Denver's veterans on last year's team; Gallinari seemed to make the greatest adjustment towards a Jokic-centric offense. It was never "me first" with Gallinari. He has been a team-first player.
It was time to let him leave - to give him a better shot at a title as the Nuggets need to reshape their team.
Thank you Mr. Gallinari - many Denver Nuggets fans wanted to keep you here - that says a lot! Best of luck to you (except when you are playing the Nuggets). May Denver Nuggets fans honor you on your first return to the Pepsi Center.

It's just unfortunate that Gallo's stint as a Nugget was hampered by injuries. I still believe they would've beaten Golden State in that 1st round had Gallo been healthy. Still gotta appreciate his contributions to the franchise, i wish him well in LA and i also hope Nugs fans would applaud him when he returns to the Pepsi Center.
Adios, Gallo.

We all know that it was about the money, But I would say that is a shot at the organization that made a mistake in having be one of their key pieces like him. He could have been a star without the injuries. It does sound like what Hickson said was true, guys never got over Karl being fired.
