Should we have kept Miller?

Post#1 » by U hova » Fri Jan 5, 2018 12:05 am

I feel like he's a major loss from a coaching perspective that a guy like Jefferson doesn't necessarily bring.

I remember someone here linked an article that talked about how Malone would turn to him during games to help with adjustments, and with how some of our games have gone I really wish we had someone in that sort of role.

I agree , he was a positive guy on the bench last season , he formed special bond with Jokic, Jefferson is like the statue on the bench no emotions whatsoever.

Parting ways with Miller was a business decision, but I would have loved to see Miller join the coaching staff. What he did as a "consultant" in the recruiting arena was above and beyond the call of duty.

I like RJ in the end of the bench vet role. I’ve listened to a couple of his podcasts and he seems very liked and eager to teach the young guys what it takes to be an nba player. I’ve also seen him do good things in the community.

But I’m definitely all for bringing Mike Miller in for some role with the organization

There was no roster space, if the front office had finally did a deal to move on from the guys they didn't want that would have created the roster spot to keep him, but we have been waiting for that since the day Melo left Denver.

Well, they had room to sign Jefferson ...

They got rid of Nelson to open up that spot for Jefferson, we had a need for a veteran SF and he is Kroenke's buddy. Can't complain too much as Nelson really isn't doing a lot for NOP this year. Jefferson is giving the same (?) veteran leadership Nelson would've w/o begging for the PT. Do think Miller could've/would've done just as good of a job there and he deserve it for what he gave to this organization.

It seems likely they already knew they were going to drop Nelson. It isn't like Miller vs. Jefferson couldn't have easily happened. Did they do it the way they did in order to have an excuse to drop Miller? Could it be another example of Malone feeling threatened by someone with a strong personality?

I seriously doubt Malone was threatened by Miller, seems more likely a typical Nuggets salary reduction move there as Jefferson is playing for the vet minimum plus they got rid (proportionally) of Miller's. With Miller, we needed the roster spot to open for Millsap

I'm not sure Miller still on this team would have any impact on the record

They had to eat Nelson's money to sign Jefferson.

The way I see it is that Miller was buddies with Bearup, Jefferson is buddies with Josh, there is only one buddy spot on the roster and Josh has more power these days.
