Jamal Murray - All Star Weekend

Post#1 » by NuggetsWY » Tue Feb 13, 2018 1:07 pm

Murray is a member of the World Team as well as competing in the skills competition. Any predictions? Skills Challenge? Game MVP?

NIKOLA JOKIC ALERT:

There are still chances for Nikola Jokic to play ASG this season. LaMarcus Aldridge didn't play yesterday vs Utah and he will not play today vs Nuggets, so maybe he will not play also in LA on Sunday!

And who from West will replace PF/C Aldridge if not our center Nikola Jokic? CP3 is the bigger name, and Lou Williams is from host-city LA, but both are guards, and there is already 13 guards selected to play (all-time record). So, if they replace another frontcourt player with another guard, it will be 14-10 in favor of guards. Actually, 14-10 is the common format for ASG historically speaking, but in favor of frontcourts (SF+PF+C > PG+SG) not guards! Also, Denver is currently the only "playoff" NBA team without anyone selected this year (including replacements and selected-injured players).

WOW, someone is trying to hijack this thread !! I think Jamal wins the skills competition and puts up 18+ in the World game. I think he makes it a goal to win the competition rather than dominate the World game.

Imagine that  Our Joker talking about The Joker. But hey, I did make the title include "All Star Weekend" without saying "Jamal only".

I am indeed hoping Jokic makes it onto the team. There are a ton of stats plus the eye-candy of his passing that all suggest he just might.

As for Murray, I suspect he will try to do both. :D It's the way he is. He got MVP of last year's game and no reason to think he couldn't do it again - although the voters will probably lean towards someone else if they are close in points.

Dinwiddie appears to be the most serious competitor in the skills competition. I'm surprised at how many bigs are in the competition. No doubt people like to see them doing "guard things" but speed & quickness are important as well as the ball-handling, passing, shooting. Murray has all of those and seems like he has a better combination than any of the others.
