Nuggets' Depth Chart

Post#1 » by NuggetsWY » Fri Dec 27, 2019 2:11 pm

ESPN, RealGM, TV Networks, other websites: Depth charts often make no sense. It often seems like they haven't even watched a Nuggets' game. I understand if they don't get the deep bench players, but the top two players at each position? That should be fairly easy. Let's see if we all agree:

Starters: Jokic - Millsap - Barton - Harris - Murray --- that's obvious
2nd String: Plumlee - Grant - ??? - Beasley - Morris

Beasley has had some CD-DNP games but he is 9th in minutes played. Either Beasley or Harris (depending on your point of view) have played some SF minutes.
Craig & Hernangomez are almost identical in minutes played, mostly at SF.
Porter is the only player with more than ten minutes played (total, not per game). He's only averaging 8.5 mpg.

3rd String
Did you know that Basketball-reference.com says Porter has spent more time at center than anyone but Jokic & Plumlee? :o Actually they are saying that he spent a higher percentage of his time at center than anyone but Jokic & Plumlee. So be careful of what any website says.

3rd Center? Millsap - maybe Grant
3rd PF? Hernangomez or Porter? --- Vanderbilt & Cancar don't get much PT
3rd SF? (Eliminate your 2nd string SF) Craig or Porter or Hernangomez or Grant or Beasley or Harris (or Vanderbilt or Cancar)
3rd SG? Barton, Murray, Morris, Craig

Misc Thoughts: According to basketball-reference;
Five players have played center while eight players have played PF.
Four players have played PG while seven players have played SG.
However, only Jokic, Plumlee, Murray, Morris have not played SF.

P.S. All of that analysis was made based on both ends of the court. How much does it change if we look at just offense or just defense? Hmmm ... :confused:
