A good bet wouldn't be waved then signed for a vet minimum. I mean, if that was the Nugget's goal, then what was the point of letting Craig go? He was also defensive-minded, cheap and if anything better fitting and not an injury concern.

Well, hard to make changes when you don’t know the impact on the chemistry of this team, part of why we were so good last year

Craig was loved in the lockerroom according to all reports, and I saw the messages that Morris, Murray, and Harris all tweeted him on twitter, they loved him. If we just wanted some defensive role player on the end of the bench than he would have been back.

Batum was waived from last year of his monster Albatros contract, which was overpaid even when he is on his peak, but that is another story.

Even if we count Batum and Craig as equally good defenders, which I don't agree with because Batum is taller two inches with the same mobility, don't forget that Batum career 3p% is 36% (Craig 32%), FT% is 84% (Craig 66%), and Batum averaged 4 assists per game (Craig 1), so I have reasons to believe that Batum will be more useful for Clippers in 2021 than Craig to Bucks.

But OK, let's forget about Batum, which I've mentioned first here right after first rumors about Hornets' upcoming plans with his contract. He is not available anymore (unfortunately, if you ask me), and which is the worse, the current list of Free Agents still available on the market is far from impressive. Here is a short list of still available free agents that hypothetically can be interesting for the Nuggets to play for the veteran's minimum. There is actually over 30 FA left, but most of them have no business to play in Denver in 2021 by any mean.

FC Anthony Davis (27)
GF Kyle Korver (39)
PF Taj Gibson (35)
PG Reggie Jackson (30)
PG Jeff Teague (32)
GF Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot (25)
PF Marvin Williams (34)

BTW, the reason why I started the Batum discussion a few days ago is that from my point of view he was potentially the best player left on the FA market (at least for what Nuggets need). The better source for eventual roster improvement is obviously the eventual (Barton) trade, but right now is not clear who is availible.

Yea, but in the last five seasons he shot 36% or better only once :D Majority of the time he was 32-33% from three, just like Craig. Also he averages 2 TOs per those 4 assists. Ok he's gone anyway, but really doesn't feel like the Nuggets missed anything.

I definitely love waived French veterans :D

We should sign this former DPOY and All-Star for vet minimum even if he will not play as a defensive frontcourt instructor and coordinator. And he can play too as a bonus.

I’d say you like Big Names and Has-Beens :D

If a playoff team like the Clippers are releasing a has-been like Noah, do you really think he has ANYTHING left in the tank ? And how much time did he play for LAC, shouldn’t that tell you something ?

Age 35 seems to be a magic age number. He was a good player at one time but father time creeps up on us all. There are few more in the same age group that maybe reaching the end of their careers (i.e. Ariza).
Canned in Denver.

Not sure who to release, but having Noah on the bench for 10 mpg would be nice to have - assuming veteran minimum.

Didn't he tear his Achilles 2 years ago and was ineffective when he has played since then?

I hear Joffrey Lauvergne, Boris Diaw, and Tony Parker are all free agents, maybe we should cancel the Millsap deal and sign them?

Yea, he literally was on a contender and did absolutely nothing and besides, seems he wants to retire not looking to play.

Seems that the 2021 Nuggets roster is finalized, and the FA market is almost empty anyway. It is time for this previously very busy thread to lose "sticky" status (unless we make some trade before the trade deadline with losing multiple players).

2020 OFFSEASON SHORT RECAP:

ROOKIES: Nnaji, Hampton
EXTENDED: Morris, Bol
RE-SIGN: Millsap
SIGN: Green, Campazzo, Hartenstein
2-WAY: Whittington, Howard

EXIT: Grant, Plumlee, Craig, KBD, Vonleh, Daniels

Return to Denver Nuggets
