Huh. I had never heard of this guy, and looking at his minutes played I don't see any reason why I would have heard of him. Well, here's hoping he's what the team needs. Certainly has good size and scores efficiently in the rare occasions he attempts a shot.

I think he played nice with Capela being INJ, but with HOU going full small, he didnt get much chance, but it could be wrong I dont remember correctly

You're exactly correct PSI

So he's not a stiff who didn't merit playing time?

Depends on your definition of stiff. He is likely a career backup Center, but a year ago he was the G League finals MVP and put up 25/15/4 on 68.6% TS% with good defense for a gleague team this year so he can play and deserves a true shot at a backup Center job.

The Rockets were the team that decided to go without Centers at all last season, prior to that they have only used Capela at C without any other true bigs. He was in a bad situation for bigs as a whole, especially for 1 like him that has an actual game.

These are times I wonder why I question Connelly with finding good overlooked players. This kid seems big, strong and athletic and like he has a little bit of skill. Nothing crazy, but seems like he should be a nice fit actually.

Hartenstein was not what I was looking for in a backup center - but I think he'll do just fine.

Bol & Nnaji are too light to play center - very often.
Millsap & Green are too short to play center - very often.
But those are our four backup centers beyond Hartenstein.

Watching videos of guys like Campazzo, looking at stats for all these guys, and reading scouting reports I am actually happy with our offseason. Hart could very well be a good poor man's Jokic in a year, Bol has some of the ability to pass and run the offense like Jokic. That works very well for what we need at Center. While I think many of us assumed Nnaji would be a Center, I think his skill set is more at PF in our system, and while Bol fits at Center in our system, I don't think anybody is ready to depend on him., So we get a G league finals MVP who put up monster stats and is a good passer and shooter that will work in our system. While there are many other bigger names we all wanted, it is hard to argue with the fit for what we need.
