There ist a logjam at Orlando backcourt and they could consider that Isaac has higher ceiling.
AG x Barton + Lyles + Juancho (with AG & MPj we would not need him) + IT2 (Idk if he has now any value).
Obviously Barton should be recovered and fully healthy before suggesting such offer

I think he could be a good piece to add next summer, specially considering Nuggets have to beat LeBron - Davis & Kawhi - PG. He might be an insurance for Michael Porter jr and a lineup him and Grant would be elite in defense.
Barton + salary filler (KBD?) x Gordon would be a great deal. Gordon still have two years in a friendly contract

Aaron Gordon
PJ Tucker
Thaddeus Young
Obviously Prio1 would be Gordon, but a rotation Tucker - Green is pretty solid IMO

I don't think the package Barton plus Monte is enough, probably a FRP should be added although I would hate that (maybe two swaps are enough?)

I'll confess, I wasn't a fan of Gordon and I was wrong, based on his first games. It sure did seem like he was an ISO player looking to score and he can score.
The really nice thing is that he seems to have welcomed a totally different role in Denver. He's brought more motion to our offense and our defense - it would be great if everyone learned from him. IMO our team's defense has been improving this year in terms of switching and covering; but Gordon seems to have pushed our team defense to a new level.

In ORL his offensive role was considerable bigger than his real ability, therefore his gaps were clearly visible.
Nevertheless, he is a perfect glue guy. Obviously he has to work on his 3P and FT, but Jokic will make his life easier on offense and his % will improve because he will take more uncontested shots. He is very active cutting to the rim and has quite decent BB IQ.
His real value is on D. His defense skills are elite, both on and off the ball, he is extremely versatile and can guard every single player in the league except big centers. He is the perfect complement to MPJ and both will benefit from this synergy.
My only concern is that he is FA in 2022.

Gordon is clearly overpaid here, and 4th year should be a team option instead of a player option.
If this contract does not prevent the Nuggets to sign a 5-year max deal with Porter, I will not complain against this deal as I complained about the latest useless Barton's overpay.

I really like Aaron Gordon and how he fits our starting frontcourt line. Actually, with our FO obviously not interested to improve our roster via trades or FA signing for me personally are re-signing AG 2nd priority to do this summer, right after MPJ's 5-year max deal. But I'm talking about the general market value of forwards defensive specialists with average offensive skills. Of course, Denver doesn't need his points with Jokic-Murray-Porter around him in starting lineup, but for his NBA-league value is the very damaging fact that he is in the offense 10-5-2 player with poor career TS%53%.
Before this new contract, Gordon belonged to NBA $16M-20M salary group where he belongs (more close to 16M than 20M!) but now he skyrockets close to the 25M salary group where he simply (objectively) not belongs.

Not sure the last time I posted on here but I’m gonna dive in here.
The problem with looking at AG’s contract like this is that the Nuggets can’t swap AG out for another “cheaper” player of this caliber. They had to pay him because he’s the guy on the roster and the only one they can extend. If they don’t sign him they lose him, either for nothing or trade for lessor talent.
If they did lose him they’d have to give up more assets to get another player around his caliber and then the roster is lessor. It’s like the fallout of the Grant loss all over again.
Klutch knew we had to extend him so good on them getting the biggest one possible. Since we’ll be over the cap it’s not like we could have paid him 4/$80M and applied that spare $8M to a free agent. At least this way AG is locked in and a trade asset if needed. No way this keeps them from resigning MPJ.
Could this not work out? Sure….but they had to go for it.
