I tend to think by the time we're at the draft, he could be taken 3rd or 4th rather than the 6-8 you currently see projected.

Id be calling ORL and offer up 13, 49, Barton, Chandler and a 2018 or 2019 top 3 protected 1st for Bismack and 6. I usually try to be conservative in trade offers but Isaac fits perfectly and that core can be a contender in 3 years or so

Magic fan here. I think everyone in the fanbase is expecting to be tanking and rebuilding for at least another year. 6 to 13 is quite the drop in talent in this draft, so I think it would take you flipping Barton and Chandler for picks and a future pick of your own.

Sounds like a very iffy proposition as ORL still wouldn't give any guarantee of a trade even if we flipped Barton & Chandler, plus ORL would limit their control over the return for Barton & Chandler.

Orlando is going to be really hard to pinpoint until this starts happening, without any track record to look at.

The idea that they're going to tank is fine, except that they don't really have a roster set up to tank. If you're going to tank, I think you'd need to start shedding some of these pieces. We'll see.

I would agree dropping off from 6 is probably not in the cards, but given the new front office, I hope we're in touch with them often to feel out where they're at.

So who is the guy one that, were the Nuggets select him you'd go #!%$#?* ????

For me it's TJ Leaf....good offensive guy but not real athletic, reminds me of a poor man Tom Gugliotta

Alright guys, draft is almost here and the playoffs have been a snoozefest, so let's summarize our draft takes, once on for all. Written in stone, forever engraved in the internets.

Give me the 5 guys you're a lot higher on than most, and 5 you're lower on than most.

I'll start it off:

Higher:
1. Cam Oliver (obviously)
2. Donovan Mitchell
3. OG Anunoby
4. Johnathan Jeanne
5. Frank Mason III

Lower:
1. Luke Kennard
2. Zach Collins
3. Jayson Tatum
4. DeAaron Fox
5. Terrance Ferguson

I think the 13th pick should be pretty simple for us. Take Collins, Anunoby, or Mitchell(in that order). If all three are off the board for some reason, take whoever fell, or trade the pick to a team that really wants the player that fell (probably Markannen or Ntilikina in this scenario).

I think the 2 second round picks are a lot more interesting, as I truly believe this draft has enough depth to bring us a contributor from one or both of these picks. Hitting on at least one of these picks would be huge for us, as it would allow us more flexibility in trading away one of our veterans. Interested to hear any opinions on who we should take at 49 and 51!

I really like Devin Robinson if he's available, could be a solid 3 and d player off the bench. Looks like he could guard 4 positions.

Im also pretty big on:
-Jonah Bolden (don't think he'll be available, hopefully he falls)
-Cam Oliver(should be available)
-Sindarious Thornwell (way underrated imo, could contribute right away)
-PJ Dozier
-Gian Clavell (favorite sleeper pick)
-Cyrille Eliezer-Vanerot

Ivan Robb seems to be falling out of the 1st round, if he drops into the 2nd, would the Nuggets move up to secure him by trading 49 & 51 ? Was thought of as a lottery pick last year, avg'd 15/11 for Cal...think I would.

Not huge on Rabb personally, but might be worth a second round pick. I see him as a high floor low ceiling guy, which honestly isn't bad in round 2. I think I'd rather move up for a different prospect though, as there will almost surely be some intriguing ones dropping as well.

Heard an interview with Chris Dempsey and he said that Nuggets are going to draft a rim protector.
Not sure what that means. It would seem to mean Gallinari will be resigned, so they don't need a SF.
Still not sold on this idea because while it seems we need a rim protect next to Jokic, it seems likely that teams will do lots of picks to switch Jokic onto someone down low and take our rim protector out high; much as teams treat Isaiah Thomas and even Steph Curry. I would think the Nuggets need people that can cover more than one position more than they need a rim protector. With Jokic in there, we need active and intelligent help-defenders more than a Rudy Gobert type. IMO

I agree with that completely. A rim protector who can play a few positions, ideally. Isaac is the pipe dream via trade.

Like Birutis, true 7-fter that knows how to score, decent shot-blocker seems like. Could be our yearly draft-n-stash at 51

I'm afraid to try to project that late in the 2nd (or most anywhere in the 2nd). That is one area where I do indeed trust the Nuggets front office. No doubt Jokic was accidently greater than expected but all of their 2nd round choices have shown promise, even if they don't work out. Unless we trade some players for picks or do a 2-for-1 or get a G-League team quickly, we really don't have room for anyone other than our 1st round pick. So draft-n-stash, here we come. ;-) And yes, Birutis looks like a good option for a stash. Give him one or two more years and bring him over as Jokic's backup and maybe running-partner at the bigs, might be nice.

Some of the players the Nuggets bring in for pre-draft tryouts are head scratchers. They just don't seem to fit. No doubt that's true for other teams. We don't really need guards, but maybe they want some during tryouts so they can see how the bigs do. OK, makes sense. We need defensive players, or so the front office says. Yet some of the bigs they are bringing in seem unaware there are two ends of the court (and I exaggerate some, but still...)

My conclusion is that sometimes they bring in a player for a tryout as a favor to an agent. The old "scratch my back and I'll scratch your back" mentality.

Regardless of position, you want to do your homework on WHOEVER could be a good find for the future as well. Also, it's good to keep your competition guessing. If you only workougt the 2-5 players you really want, doesn't it let the guy behind you know what your going to do ?? And I agree with your keeping agents happy theory as well. !!

And really, I don't recall them bringing in Murray or Juancho for workouts last year, yet here they are :D

Yeah, you're probably right. But I seriously wonder how much you can fool other teams. With international players, it seems more likely. There was a recent announcement about a European center that was not going to be coming to Denver for a workout. It seems to be mis-direction or not or maybe it'll fool someone or maybe they really aren't interested or ...

The way I see it with our two 2nds one will definitely be a draft-n-stash guy like Birutis.. is the 49th pick someone who can come in as a backup/ G-league guy for this year ?

Do you think they'll fill all three G-League slots? It seems with the European players, they'll probably leave them in Europe and let someone else pay them.

Return to Denver Nuggets
