Nuggets/jazz game 2 loss WTH!!!

Post#1 » by easiestplayfts » Thu Apr 22, 2010 1:35 am

I posted this in a thread but:

Did anyone see the nba boxscores from nuggets/ jazz game 2.

nuggets total bench scored 20 points.......one player off the utah bench had 18 points.

nuggets's forward had 3 rebounds.....utah's forward had 15 rebounds.

superstar player fouls out of a pivotal game 2 at home with 2 minutes left to go and his team loses the game by only 3 points......(just for perspective) none of the other superstars in the 2003 draft have ever fouled out in a playoff game.

The nuggets are lucky they only lost by 3 points.

Disagree, they were unlucky not to win.

but Mr "Big Shot" decided to shoot not one, but THREE contested 3pt jumpers in probably 3 of our most important possessions of the game.

All superstars like Kobe, Lebron and MJ, Wade take the last shot in big games but were all still in the game. I doubt any of them ever fouled out in a playoff game.

You are right Melo could have probaly made that last shot...but he lost his composure and fouled out. Part of being a great player is playing SMART.

Who else was on the floor to take the shot? At least Billups was still in the game and fought to the bitter end.

That's Billups' gamble. If he makes those shots he's "the best player on the floor" .. if he misses those shots he's not.

put the ball in the basket like this

And everytime Melo fouls out I get nervous

And everytime Lawson tried to guard D-Will I got nervous

And everytime K-mart's bad knees stepped on the court I got nervous

And every time this season Nene misses a point blank layup I get nervous

And when the coach got sick I got nervous

When AD is coaching I am nervous

And when the lakers got Artest I got nervous

When Billups is on the floor I am NOT nervous because he has a championship...because if he can't lead the nuggets noone can.

Yes, he will. I knew the jazz were going to win game 2 but the nuggets will win a game in utah...its going to be a tough, tough series but the nuggets will advance because of Melo and Chauncey.

Beat me to the comment.

You're right, though. There is plenty of blame to go around. Personally, I think JR letting a scrub like Korver go off for 6 straight uncontested points in the fourth, and then a wide open three at the end was a bigger deal. I agree with the comment made earlier, Billups makes a lot of those shots and is a hero.

You can't knock Melo for fouling out too much. That last call was bogus, and two of those charges were horrible. I hate how soft the NBA has become where flopping has become a legit skill.

The playoffs are about the coach making adjustments game to game .....this is what I think the nuggets will do on friday. Stop Boozer, put a good defender on Boozer.

Unfortunately, Denver doesn't have a defender that can stop Boozer. Birdman's hurt, KMart is hurt. Nene can't guard him out on the perimeter. Petro is useless.

Why is it that Boozer always struggles when Nene is on the court then?

Maybe you should go back and watch the games, the only time Boozer does anything is when the refs put enough fouls on KMart and Nene to get them on the bench.

You may want to do some research, Jordan fouled out of a few playoff games. The fact that Lebron and Kobe don't have fouls called on them has nothing to do with the discussion, as the are two of the dirtiest defenders in the league, that are blatantly allowed to get away with it by the league and refs.

For all hype Billups gets, the fact is that he makes horrible decisions, especially at the end of the game, and the Nuggets do not have a DPOY Like Wallace in the middle to clean up the mess, not to mention 4 other all stars on the floor. There is a reason that Pistons started declining when Ben Wallace left, and really went downhill as Rasheed lost interest.

Go back and look at what happened to Denver. They are not a great defensive team. Only Phoenix gives up more points than they do of the 8 teams in the Western Conference Playoffs. Here's a good link on the subject for you.

http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_ ... ggets-back

Is it possible that Denver will win the series? Sure. This is probably the tightest series of any in the playoffs. You complain that the referees put fouls on your players. Not the case. There were many occasions where Utah's players were hammered when calls weren't made and in the next possession, Utah was called for ticky-tack fouls.

I'll say to you what people have said to Utah fans for ages since MJ's foul on Karl Malone in the '98 championships and subsequent pushoff on Bryon Russell. Championship teams win regardless of the referees calling against them. So if Denver didn't win that game then they just aren't a championship caliber team. Same goes for Utah in game 1 when they didn't pull themselves together. In game 2, Utah overcame ticky-tack fouls, kept their composure (something that Denver did not do) and won the game. Let's see how the series plays out. I know this much, it's a bunch of fun to watch. These are two great teams.

PoInts given up is not a measure of defense, and only someone with a low bbiq would think that it was. The truth is by most decent defensive stats such as fg% given up and point differential the Nuggets are a middle of the road defensive team.

AS for the reffing, only a homer would cry about the way the Jazz were getting treated in game 2, go back and read the game thread everybody outside of Jazz fans saw a bunch of crap calls getting the Nuggets front court out of the way.

Oh wow... someone tried to use points per game given up to mean something? They don't teach kids anything these days. That's funny.

The Rebel.......ok I researched it and in 19 years MJ has 0 foul outs in the playoffs. Secondly you are right the nuggets need to get a great defender like Wallace.

Barghest you are correct....there is no one on the nuggets to defend Boozer 1:1 but they could double team.

Happyprole..... you are right there is nothing but hate for Chauncey on Realgm.

But Chauncey has his ring so....I hope the nuggets get swept again in the first round.

F***k the nuggets.....f***k denver...GO JAZZ!!!!

The Mavs, Suns, and Cavs dropping a game do make me feel better about the loss though.

Man Jazz fans are one MAD HATER bunch!

Billups will bring it after solid rest on this next game! I am sure he is working precisely on how to dictate a D on so D Will. IMO we need to minimize the passing line gambles especially in pivotal possessions.

Lot of People are mad at Billups. True that he has made strange mistakes he do not commit lately BUT this next game will determine where his heart and mind at! I expect him come out wise and focused.
