Utah series was a fluke?

Jazz fans bragged they're a better team than us, and called our 2008-09 WCF season a fluke.

At least we beat the Lakers twice :D they get swept HAH

I thought we had game 2 taken away from us by the refs...

they convincingly beat us games 3 and 4 though.

and to be fair, they never called the flops they did against the Lakers whilst we got raped with the beneficiary flop whistle.

I watched the series highlights. Matthews and Miles flopped everytime. It's embarassing for the L... yet they rewarded them.

Didn't we have a rule for flopping established a few years ago? Whatever happened to it? The NBA really should look at soccer and how if you flop, you will basically be murdered by opposing players, if not by them, by fans lol... Flopping and biased officiating are what ruin the NBA.

But I just love how when their (Jizz) flopping didn't work in Game 1 and 2 (Lakers series), they started to stop it and look at the result when they did.

I really don't like the word "fluke" for this series. When i think of a fluke I think about opposing teams playing above their potential and upsetting a superior opponent.

I think he nuggets just played terrible and beat themselves.

Fluke in the sense, it never happens if Karl didn't get cancer.

Denver was definitely the much better team if they had Karl on bench and would have given the Lakers a much harder series. Denver actually plays LA tough, they don't pull that pansy flopping stuff.

I didn't see the arms flailing wildly flops in the LA series. Maybe Deron, despite all his talent, can see now how a team can feel like a pawn in the greater picture. Get Denver out of their game early so they never see L.A., then allow Jazz to get swept. Couldn't be more perfect for a conspiracy theory.

Don't be surprised if we see L.A. versus Celtics in the Finals.

No excuses....never let ref calls get anyone out of their game....there are other elements that lost the Utah series, but sometimes all it takes is a nudge (or flop).

It's too bad because we never really see the fresh team .

Now the best response is David Stern is 'tired' of hearing criticism of the refs. If he's tired maybe he should step down.

You're just begging Utah trolls to jump on here.

Utah handled Denver pretty nicely, and neither team was ever going to have a shot against the Lakers this season considering injury issues.

Didn't expect a sweep. I would have said 5-6.

Team had this laid back mentality throughout the whole season! It was like OK we will bring it once in a while JUST to keep fans in it.

I will be real surprised if FO stays kinda put this summer! WE HAVE GOT TO RE TOOL FOR Anthony's motivation & + Billups aging.

SAID IT BEFORE MANY TIMES. We are retracting for tackle!!!

A fluke? Winning a best of 7 series isn't a fluke. Yeah we got butt raped by the lakers, so what. LA has a vastly superior team that we do. It's ok to admit when you've been beaten by a better team. Cmon, you have to give credit where credit is due.

LA is a different beast... your fans say we had a fluke 2008-09 season. We beat Lakers twice in this "fluke" season.

I think it's more fluke you beat us without our coach and it's exposed when you couldn't beat Lakers. I'd like to think we would have beaten a Utah Jazz team who showed no resistance whatsoever to Lakers had we had George.

If our mindset was in the right place, we would have handled Utah decisively. I don't think any unbiased person would disagree with that. That team you faced was not the real Denver team, but by all means celebrate and talk all you want.

Maybe they would have. We'll never know. But you can't just assume they would have won if Karl had been coaching.

You actually can. The body of evidence that showed how completely different the Nuggets were with and without Karl, backs that up. He had a 71% win percentage (if I recall correctly) while missing Kmart, Melo, Birdman, Lawson, and Billups for some games. AD had a 50% win percentage and only missed out on Kmart, Birdman, and Lawson because he forgot Lawson was on the bench (his words).

Might have been more players missing, but I think that's right.

You can't? Well you seem so quick to assume that you guys are the "better team." You conveniently neglecting some major facts in the series. Facts that obviously influenced the series' outcome. That series did not show who the better team was, but as I said before, carry on with your mindless bs.

Not sure how what I'm saying is mindless bs. Please elaborate. I've never trolled on your boards before. I wasn't trying to ruffle any feathers. You guys were talking about how losing to the Jazz was a fluke. I politely disagreed. But whatever..

Within the confines of the 7 game series we played - yes, we were absolutely the better team. Anywho, this doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Best of luck in the offseason. I hope Karl recovers soon. He's my classy guy and a great coach.

You seemed to overlook the post in which I elaborated?

I will agree with you, for the series, Utah was definitely the better team. Most of the Nuggets didn't show up to play, and there was no one coaching the team. If Karl hadn't gotten ill though, there is no doubt Denver wins the series. But doesn't matter now.

I don't believe your team was the better team. I do not give you guys full credit. There are very few teams (if any) who can be successful in the playoffs without a coach. Then again, we probably would have been better off with no coach than AD. Still, my hat is off to Deron. Only guy I like on that team, and definitely my vote for best pg in the world.

I do not know what Nugget fans did on Utah's boards, but I know you guys did a lot of trolling here, so forgive me if I was not polite in my response. I learned to usually assume the worst when other fans come here creating controversy, especially when the thread title is this provoking.

I hope AD leaves the Nuggets and join the Jazz as an assistant or something.
