melo and extension

Post#1 » by shazam » Wed Aug 4, 2010 1:46 pm

If that article is true, then you better not make the same mistake the Cavs made and you better trade him and get something for him. The writing will be on the wall at that point and he will shaft you and go to NY just like Lebron did to us. Do Not make the same mistake the Cavs did, If a guy Does not sign and want to eh "Keep my options open" that means he's bolting, read between the lines. Melo see's other players like the 3 clowns in Miami forming super teams and he may decide to go and try to do the same thing. Im telling you the inmates are now running the asylum , and Stern and the NBA better get a grip or they will become a 5-6 team league and the rest will be crap, and then is not good for the league or the sport.

The article was BS and this thread wasn't needed. The BS article is already being discussed in other threads.

If we've learned anything from this summers free agency, it's that anyone who says "sources say ________" is completely full of ****. I'm not going to believe that Melo is or isn't going to sign the extension until it comes out his own mouth.

I am just saying that Denver Mgmt should be ready for anything, and I would want him to sign now, lets face it the longer he balks at it and blows it off the better the chance he is bolting like Lebron did on us, No disrespect to you Nugget fans but do not let another one of these idiots screw u, screw them first and do whats best for your team and family, like these idiots say, and if that means trading him to russia then guess what off ya go Melo smirnoff.

Except for Steven A Smith, who despite being the least credible reporter on the face of the planet, was the one person this summer who was actually right.

Melo got married and hasn't been in the US since then. He isn't balking at signing it, he hasn't even been in the country. He knows the deal won't be taken off the table, so let him enjoy his vacation / honey moon. And I don't know if this is correct, but someone mentioned if he signs the extension next year, he can do it for more years. Might be a good plan, if the CBA really cuts max deals.

I don't take any of these "sources close to Melo" seriously. Only the FO knows what Melo's answer has been this summer. If he truly wishes to test free agency, I say we ship him out.

can't really trust a source that makes note of a comment about Melo's reasoning for leaving being because of Chap and Wark being let go. I mean seriously, everyone knew a move like this was coming by summers end.

He was out of the country on his honeymoon, then handling some business in Puerto Rico until August 2nd when he returned to Bmore for his tournament. Hasn't been back in Denver yet.

Melo has been back in the country since like july 21'st so that he isnt in the country excuse cant be used anymore.

People keep saying until you here from Melo's mouth, you guys actually think Melo is gonna come out and say I dont wanna play in Denver? Even if he comes out and says I'm gonna test free agency that basically means he is leaving Denver because of the new cba. How many free agents have came out and said I dont wanna play for this team anymore while under contract?? Amare didnt come out and say I dont wanna play for phoenix but he still left same with booz, bron and bosh. Melo is just not gonna sign the extension point blank period. Its funny that everybody is saying that all these reports are rumors. But when a report came out saying Melo was close the signing the extension two months ago, none of you said that was a rumor, you took it for what is was.

if we gave u ar4 gallo,wilson,td23 with necc fillers to make trade work i think its a good idea for both team to involve billups, because nuggets will become young exciting team with lawson,wilson,gallo,ar4 and nene. while knick can def benafit from billups

Obviously we would be deciding to blow it up and rebuild if we end up having to trade Melo, but the Knicks just don't have the assets to compensate us for both. If we blow it up I think Billups has to go somewhere else. Like:

Nuggets out: Melo
Nuggets in: Randolph, Gallanari, and Curry's expiring contract (you can keep td23 and Wilson Chandler for all I care)

and then

Denver out: Billups, Anderson, Balkman, Anthony Carter, Cha 1st
Denver in: Damp, Rudy, Pryz and Babbit

Cha in: Miller, Anderson, AC, Por 1st
Cha out: Damp, 1st round pick

Portland in: Billups, Balkman
Portland out: Babbit, Rudy, Miller, Pryz, 1st round pick

Trade ID #5656828

Obviously this is not the way I want things to work out as keeping Melo would be much better. But we could do much worse then the following lineup with an extra first coming down the pipe and unlimited cap space

Lawson/Karl
Rudy/JR/AA
Gallo/Babbit
AR/Harrington
Nene/Pryz

If we were to trade Melo it wouldn't be with the Knicks.

If anything it'd be with a contender.
