While he has never been the best coach in the league, hitting 1000 wins is quite the accomplishment.

I'm just curious, has he ever coached a rebuilding team.. a team that couldn't get by on talent? Seems most of the teams he has "coached" have been really talented, so his teams have been carried by their talent and not his "no system" which then fails in the playoffs.

That's actually a stat I'd like to see, his playoff win percentage vs the other coaches who have 1,000 wins.

Edit: Looked up his career and it looks like he has coached some bad teams, so my real question is, has he ever "coached up" a team to have it over-achieve? I'm not trying to hate on GK, but he really doesn't seem like he's gotten a team to do better than it should have, then flames out in the playoffs. I believe he has never won when he was the lower seed.

I don't know, I think that 2005 Nuggets team certainly over-achieved when Karl took over. We were what, almost 10 games below .500 when he was hired yet finished the season on a 32-8 run. Karl single handedly turned that season around and got us back to the playoffs.

We all like to hate on his coaching style/system (or lack-there-of) and his love for unquestionably **** players, but last year made it pretty clear that we're a better team when he's on the bench.

Considering all he's been through off the court, 1,000 W's is a pretty big deal. Congrats coach.

I think that showed more how horrible AD was as a coach. Sounded like the refs, players, and assistant coaches didn't respect or listen to him.
