Rebounding and Blocks

Post#1 » by pickaxe » Sat Dec 25, 2010 3:16 pm

After 27 games, the Nuggets hold the following stats:

BPG: 3.85 6.44 -2.59 disadvantage

RPG: 40.85 42.11 -1.26 disadvantage

Rebounds seem OK if you look at a team like Boston that makes a lot of shots (they've got roughly the same RPG as Nuggets)

Blocks......doesn't 6.44 BPG on our guys seem very high? Knowing all of the shot blockers have been resting or coming off of the bench....3.85 seems ok for the rest of the team. Being shut out 6.44 times per game seems really high.

The blocked shots do not bother me, 6 per game seems about right for what teams usually average against us, and having guys like Williams, forbes, Carter, and Ely play as many meaningful minutes as they have has allowed teams to get away with more help defense around the rim, I expect that number to get closer with KMart, Andersen, and Billups all being healthy, as long as Melo is still with the team.

The rebounds have always been a problem, although our best 2 per minute rebounders have been out pretty much the whole season so hopefully it gets better. When your starting Sf is a full rebound better then anybody else on the team, you have a problem.

We don't have a real center, and our only two shot blockers have been out all year. These numbers are not surprising.
