Nene situation.

Post#1 » by The Rebel » Tue Jan 25, 2011 2:43 am

Sounds like Berger is making things up once again, and sense I am sure it will not appear on the wiretap, i feel Dempsey's article deserves it's own thread.

http://blogs.denverpost.com/nuggets/201 ... nter-nene/
Chris Dempsey wrote:But unlike Anthony, Nene – a native of Brazil – has grown to love the city of Denver, state of Colorado and desperately desires to stay. He wants to extend his contract with the Nuggets and says those talks have begun to some degree. He does plan to not opt out of the final year of his deal, which will pay him $11.6 million next season.

Chris Dempsey wrote:Asked specifically if he wants to extend his contract with the Nuggets, Nene said “Definitely. I love the city. But I can’t control it. So that’s why I said my agent is going to do what’s best for me. I want to stay here. I have friends, I have family. All the fans have been supportive, they’ve been good to me. That’s what I can say.”

Pressed on the subject, asked if he was sure he wants to remain a Nugget, Nene said “Who’s not sure? I’m doing my job. I’m very sure.”

lets disregard all that.

if melo can only get us chandler, fields and a first from 2023....i believe we'd have to pay another team to take nene.

haven't you heard everybody is willing to take Nene's contract with Melo, but do not expect as many assets as we would if we only traded Melo, as they are doing us a favor by taking on all that salary for someone who is only a very good center, and not a superstar.

Rumor comes from Chris Sheridan:

Because Anthony is not the only player they are trying to deal, and a number of secondary trades have been discussed in the event that Melo is moved. The player drawing the most interest is their center, Nene, with the Houston Rockets at the front of the line offering a combination of young players and draft picks to give the Nuggets more of the rebuilding pieces they are seeking.

I have seen rumors with Nene going to Houston lately, don't know what the package would be or if the Nuggets have now decided to move him as well, but I could see the Rockets having the pieces.

Don't know how reliable this is given it is one of the writers from HoopsWorld so I would take this with a grain of salt...with that said here is some rumored info on Houston's offer for Nene...

Via HoopsWorld writer Bill Ingram:

@JAM05028 Supposedly it's Yao/Chase/picks for Nene/Harrington about 13 hours ago

If the Rockets want Harrington, trade him to the Rockets, and then trade Nene somewhere else for something better if they feel that they must trade him.

If Melo goes to the Nets I would take budinger, Patterson, and a 1st or 2 with Yao's expiring for Nene and Harrington. Gives us a good young front court that could develop along with lawson and Afflalo.

If melo goes to the Knicks, then it really depends on if who exactly they get and what they do with those players. I don"t see the need for 4 SFs but that is just me, even if I really do not like half of them.

Rockets won't give up that much for Nene and Harrington. They really don't even want Harrington. They might have a slight interest in Nene, but they would at the most likely offer Jeffries(expiring), Budinger, and Hill for him or a combo of them with Yao expiring.

then Rockets will not end up with Nene, hell rumor I heard out of someone in houston is that the Rockets offered yao, Budinger, and multiple 1st round picks.

Hawes + Iguodala for Chandler + Nene! Iggy would benefit both JR Smith and Galo.

They probably won't end up with Nene. They don't want Harrington's contract.

The charlotte bobcats have a 2014 draft pick that is burning a hole in our pocket since we found out you are allowed to trade a pick that far off. Just think you could have two unprotected lotto picks in 2014 to go with your own picks between now and then. That could be five lotto picks in the next three years if you play your cards right!

Two questions for Denver fans re: Nene

1. What are the odds that Nene gets traded now that Melo is in NY?

2. What, if anything, would Denver want from Golden State in return for Nene? We've called about him before so I'm sure our front office will be trying again to get him.

Earlier tonight Ujiri said that he wasn't looking to trade Nene or JR. Whether that is true or not is a guess at this point, but that is what he said.
