Should JR Start?

Now that ole #15 has gotten his wish to be in NY I really....really think JR should start.
Anyone who watches Nuggets basketball knows he's the best offensive player on the team. His jumper has been silky smooth the last few games and he's averaging 6 boards in 27 minutes. Against Atlanta Karl finally let him finish the game on the floor and he did not disappoint. Don't believe me? Take it from Corona...
corona wrote:thankfully karl pulled his head out of his butt and played the nuggets best offensive player in the closing 6+ minutes. ended up making/finishing most of the plays down the stretch.
baseline drive to get fouled and sunk a pair of free throws
p&r to nene for the dunk
crazy drive on crawford to get pair of free throws late in shot clock
alleyoop on the fastbreak after a good rebound
midrange jumper from corner
I say it's time he start...at the 2 guard with Gallo at the 3 (or Chandler if Gallo's toe still hurts).

i don't care about starting.
i care about who finishes. it was obvious in that portland game that everyone on the court struggled to create offense for themselves or for other people. the last 3 minutes and overtime were simply passing around the perimeter and launching contested jumpshots late in the clock. felton was off, lawson is young and short, gallo didn't demand the ball, and nene's a vag.
jr can create a pretty darn high percentage step back jumper out of nothing or force the defense to collapse/help.
felton (cause at this point we know karl's gonna play him to finish games)
smith
gallo
kmart
nene
or sub AAA for kmart if the other team is small.

The Nuggets have also started out slow since the trade....aside from the game that JR started. So he should start...
and Finish.

JR is one of the most talented players in the L....I would definitely start him over AA...to me its a no brainer.

...probably because he had a broken big toe

Kmart was out that game, he could have made a bit of a difference in the outcome of that game. But, Corona is trying to prove the point that JR is one of the few players currently on the team that can create offense for himself, and I agree with him.

J.R. Smith is the perfect 6th man. Remember Vinnie "Microwave" Johnson. That instant offense off the bench is key to putting pressure on other teams reserves; forces the other team to make counter moves. Strong offense from the bench makes the game a lot easier to win especially if you can build a lead using your bench or, at the least, it can cancel out the strength of the other team's bench.
Affalo is more defensively gifted and gives the opponent's starters additional pressure at the outset. Karl does not want to move Smith to the starting lineup. Don't overlook the importance of a good 6th man.

^ we have a whole bench of good/great 6th men.

and jr should still come off the bench. the unit of felton/smith/chandler/whocares/bird is gonna crush teams once afflalo and gallo return to the starting lineup. ray & bird obviously already have great chemistry, and i think felton fits better with jr too. like i've said before, for some reason the lawson/smith combo doesn't work.

J.R has seen AA came in and showing what is needed to be done to get the starting spot in this team right in front of him. I'm surprised with J.R not really competing when DJ was traded & AA came in. his competitive will is questionable but his talent is not.
I like Chandler's defense. Any of you think when Gallo comes back there could be a chance to move K Mart to bench ?

I don't know that Jr never competed, Afflalo just brought exactly what the Nuggets needed at the SG slot with Billups and Melo on the court. Plus we needed Jr's scoring off the bench. Over the summer with Afflalo's improvement I actually think Afflalo's the better overall player, and continues to earn that starting position.
Also I don't think there is any way that Karl brings Kmart off the bench.

He shouldn't start because Affalo is better than Jr. Simple as that.
I agree with Corona that he should finish most games when the players are struggling to create offense.

I think Chanlder' secured his position with Karl. Gallo we'll have to battle to get the starting spot back.
Gallo can't play PF. He can't handle most PFs. He can be a SG tho

JR closed tonight against the hawks.
K-Mart ain't goin to the bench, best overall defender on the team....plus he's the crazy guy, Barkley says you always gotta have a crazy guy.

AAA is very good all around player with commitment and heart.I may be wrong but i will say J.R is more talented player if he could learn to play fundamentally sound and controlled.
K Mart is core of our defense. I was just wondering with Nene doing serious activity down low, shooter at 4 could be helpful.

J.R closed out the last hope ATL had with his long bombs!
Barkley is back on our wagon.

There is no doubt that JR is the most talented SG on the roster, and possibly the most talented player on the team. The problem is that this year is the 1st year he has really played controlled for a sustained period.
