• Timofey Mozgov, Russia/Denver Nuggets

It remains to be seen whether Mozgov will be one of those Rudy Fernandez/Nenad Krstic types who just works better in FIBA play than in the NBA, because Mozgov did very well for Russia. He turned the ball over a bit much and fouled too often — his achilles heel in the NBA — but he looked comfortable as a focal point in Russia’s motion-heavy offense, averaging nearly 10 points per game on 65 percent shooting. Only one player blocked a higher percentage of opponent shots, meaning Mozgov was an effective deterrent in the paint.

There is work to be done, on the boards and on defense, but Mozgov looked the part of an NBA center.

sounds like Mozgov handled himself well.

Watched game or two Russia in Euro league just to see Mozgov actually play stretched amount of time on court. Almost made me believe we are fine to hand a starting Center spot to him once season starts with or without Nene.

With Ty pushing up a Tempo Mozgov is suitable to roll with him in a higher paced offense + hopefully Nene to stick around to allow Mozgov and Gallo to spread the floor for him beast up them power forwards down low.

Feeling bit optimistic today.

Harrington might not even be around with an amnesty clause at the Nuggets disposal. Might be tough to do if Nene leaves, but we might look for another guy to compete with Faried. Hard to mark him as a starter right away when he seems far more like a hustling role player.

I would LOVE for us to get Kirilenko! He was the best player in the Euro's IMO and he can do everything.. Would fit perfect in our new team.

Nuggets18: Well... Kiril WAS great. He's great in Euroleague too.

But can't ignore Euro's performances of Pau Gasol, Rudy Fernandez, Tony Parker was awesome, couldn't believe the way Bo McCalebb was playing...



Mozgov played fine but... Zaza Pachulia was freaking beast at Euro's. Zaza Pachulia... And both Asik and Kanter imo played better than Mozgov. The think with young centers is they need playing time to develop. Everyone can't be like Divac or Sabonis to shine as teenagers. A season in Russia could help Mozgov a lot.

Koufos played well in Euro. Especially against NBA players. Against Mozgov the matchup was really insteresting with both player being the best for their team. Koufos was efficient for the time spend on the floor since he had to share time with Bourousis. There is a thread were i posted his significant games. Koufos had a great game against Nowitski in the preparation games.


I believe they display different qualities but they should get significant time on the floor. Having a consistent 7 footer on the floor nowdays is added value.
