Melo vindicated?

But it wasn’t the right plan for Anthony, not with a major labor battle on the horizon. And with the lockout into its 105th day and already costing regular-season games, his aggressive move turns out, for him, for the better.

“For the average person out there who really thought I was just trying to get up and just leave for no reason, that really was a big key in my decision,” Anthony said about the lockout. “I knew free agency was coming, I knew it would be altered, I knew it’d be messed up, so imagine if I’d have stayed. I’d have been a free agent now in limbo.”

“I don’t think I did anything wrong to the Denver fans,” Anthony said. “I think I’ve been loyal to them for seven years, so for me to go back — of course you’re going to have some boos and people weeping and whining about it — but for the most part I can say I did a hell of a job out there in Denver.”

Reading this article Melo still don't get why people in denver were pissed, after he tanked a good team, and what should have been a good season. Of course to me being loyal is not refusing to help recruit free agents and making plans to leave for years prior to actually leaving, but what do I know.

or you could have signed a 65 million dollar extension with the nuggets and gotten security in the lockout.

did you think we forgot about that?

It's clear he wasn't going to stay...At least we got something for him.

There's nothing wrong with him wanting to move, regular folks do it all the time. I appreciate what he did in Denver. That being said I don't root for him or the Knicks.

Time for the Nugs to reload and make another run at it.....(Whenever a CBA is in place)

I don't get it. Is this suppose to be a secret or something? The "average person" knew exactly what he was trying to do and why he was doing it.

Anyway, I'm over it. Melo was never going to win anything by himself, and Denver was never going to acquire another major super star. Melo feels more at home in NY, and there are undoubtedly a lot more endorsement opportunities. It makes all the sense in the world for Melo to want to go to New York. I hope he wins eventually.

as a knicks fan I think you guys should be a bit upset but I think you guys are also
lucky, you guys raped us in that trade.. I think chandler gallinari & felton, that is three players with all star
potential for one guaranteed all-star the only reason we made the deal is we could pair him with Amare
pre Amare that trade doesnt get done

Personnally, I think you guys go the better of the knicks, (not suprising since the knicks has got to be the worst big market franchise out their.)

So if you put all of your eggs in one basket and depend on two players to lead you to the promise land. Would you really put that stock in stoudmire and anthony? Really think about that.

Who else would it be and how would the Knicks get them?

Could they have traded for Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin, Dirk, Kobe, Dwight Howard, or Chris Paul?

Could they have signed any of those guys in 2010?

Obviously they couldn't sign LeBron, Wade or Chris Bosh.

How else do the Knicks compete for a championship? If it is the summer of 2010 and you have a handful of talented, young players and a sh*t ton of cap space that you've worked hard to create...how else do you capitalize and turn it into a team that can contend for a championship?

Do you just let free agency pass you by, sign a bunch of guys like Jordan Farmar and Travis Outlaw and start tanking for lottery picks? Or do you hire someone to slip LeBron James some rufilin on a warm June night in Ohio and convince him to sign with NY instead?

I know you may interpret my opinion as a biased one, but if you ask me, Donnie Walsh and the Knicks have done a hell of a job turning over a roster that was previously littered with toxic contracts and mired in mediocrity...for a franchise that was almost void of any draft picks or valuable, high character players and constantly under scrutiny for lacking aptitude as well as various other PR nightmares.

Can you really say with certainty that the Knicks aren't on the right track now? That they can't figure out a way to build a team around Anthony and Stoudemire and develop a style of play there that is effective and wins games?

I'm gonna take my chances with these two guys. Both of them relish the stage in Madison Square Garden and have played some of the best ball of their careers there so far. That alone is something Knicks fans haven't seen in a long time. Two of the most talented players in the game - certainly two of the best scorers in the game - entering the primes of their careers. I think the future is real bright for the Knicks. Some important decisions still left to make though...

The Knicks gutted their entire team and future to give the max to a non-max player and undisputedly the worst defensive all-star in the league.

They are now banking heavilly upon the CBA allowing them to sign a superstar PG to replace Billups and then praying that competent vets will sign for the minimum with them instead of Miami.

 What an exaggeration. You're making yourself look silly. I can put a negative spin like that on any NBA team. Please...

Melo filed an antitrust suit against the NBA because thought they weren't offering enough money & years on fully guaranteed contracts to players. Same guy who just months prior wasn't willing to honor the spirit of the long-term contract he had personally signed with Denver. This is a guy who takes his personal disputes to the authorities (in this case court of law), but campaigns for everyone else to "stop snitching." He slapped you guys in the face and ran away ala the Mardy Collins incident.

From a business angle I can't blame Carmelo doing what he did. It was a smart move if he wanted to leave, and at the time the potential for a lockout allowed the Nugs to get a lot more for him than they would have had he simply walked at the end of the season. It could have been a lot worse.

From a basketball angle, I don't see how he thinks he's going to win more games with that squad than the one he had in Denver, but oh well. He got his money and Lala got her **** reality TV show. Hope they're happy.

melo is a 2-faced greedy ****. I don't see how any self-respecting Denver Nuggets fan would choose not to actively root against anything he is involved in.

Homegirl passed up a monster extension, changed his hometown (remember when he was from Baltimore?), wanted to push his atrocious fashion sense on the world, wanted to be in commercials, and his wife got the attention she wanted. What a beautiful deal for him.

Ya know, if that's what he wants, good for him, he got it. But he decided he was too good for anything but NYC. Too good for all of us boys and girls not in NYC. So **** him. I'm not too worried about him winning because whatever big 3 they put together, 2 of them don't play any semblance of defense. They won't beat the Heat, and they will continue having problems against the Bulls and even the geriatric men up there in Boston, assuming those teams stay as presently constituted. But I won't root for him against any of those teams, or any other team aside from the Lakers.

We see an athlete's ego make him think that he's the good guy, he's done nothing wrong, and he's invincible, and teaming up with another superstar in another city is just fine. Where have we seen that before? He made a smart decision not making a 1-hour special about his trade sweepstakes, because apparently that's the big no-no in this scenario.

I can't solve it... Which one is it? Melo or STAT?

That would be STAT.

Hate Melo, but he can be a really good defender when he tries. When he tries being the keyword.

Keyword indeed. He has all the skills to play great defense. When it's time to step it up, he usually does.
