Who wants Birdman, and what do Denver need?

Post#1 » by Ice32 » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:42 pm

With Birdman now on the trade block, question is, which teams wants his 9.3 million dollar contract, and what would Denver need in return? Or does he become another Amnesty victim?

Right now we are stacked at every position, and with Wilson Chandler here around March, minutes will be a big issue. With the way Faried and Brewer have been playing lately, I wonder if Denver management feel that losing Rudy and/or Harrington wouldn't be such a big loss now? And is Dre a valuable trade asset for a team needing PG leadership?

Your thoughts? Does Birdman go, and who should we target?

I think Denver needs a shooter badly, and a tough guy, who can bring intensity all the time.

A backup 2 guard that is reliable with his jumpshot

A PG that actually runs and doesn't slow the pace down, preferably one that is average so Karl would stop using 2 PGs at the same time, or if he does have Lawson always be the point.

A big that can rebound that Karl would use (Faried)

A backup 3 (Chandler solves this)

With that said, I'd just be happy with a TE for Bird. Would even look to trade Al at this point if his value is high since Chandler is coming back and can play some 4 and that we're not good enough to get out of the first round this season.

stone needs a few more shots. i'd like to see what he'd do given 20 minutes per 2 or 3 games..

Knicks will kind of be giving to much, but I think the Knicks should go ahead and pull the trigger on Toney Douglass for Birdman.

Was that sarcastic because of the green? I'm confused... Wouldnt want Toney Douglass really though. I would prefer a TPE and 2nd rounder.

Sounds like T-Mac is unhappy in Atlanta. Maybe he could be had for cheap...

Would the Nuggets want/need Jason Maxiell? I've always thought of Chris as one of those random players that would really fit in Detroit.

Denver wants to move andersen due to not having the room for him, they have 3 young bigs that need minutes on top of Nene and Harrington getting their minutes. in other words I do not see them dealing andersen for maxiel

How do you guys fill about James Anderson + filler ? His salary this year is 1.4k.

Former big12 player of year, regarded as the best shooter of the 2010 draft. Can't crack the rotation with Leonard and Green emerging.

He is not getting minutes in SAS and his agent has told SA that his client wants to be traded.

i dunno if Chris is really a San Antonio type of guy, but we need a serviceable BIG and he fits. Thoughts?
Shaq on Duncan:SA won because of TD, a guy I could never break.I could talk trash to Ewing, get in D-Rob's face, get a rise out of Mourning, but when I went at Tim he’d look at me like he was bored and say:“Hey,Shaq, watch this shot right off the glass.”

I've never heard of him and that's probably a reason for us not to go after him.

What would be the filler? Can't imagine SA trading enough salary back to make it a valid trade... but if it was possible to do an Anderson for Andersen trade, I'd be okay with it.

Well, Pop could get more out of bird than anyone else. He would rest him at the right times, play him in the right spots, etc. Damn I am jealous of Pop. Karl is garbage. Ill give you lawson and bird if we get Pop, lol.

Would something like a Toronto second in like 2014 or so work, along with a TPE? I could see that trade going down in the summer. Going to need a vet to sop up minutes when our 1st from last year, Valanciunas, comes over.

The reason for it being a 2014 second is I think we have a protected '13 second being sent to Dallas, so we wouldn't be able to trade it.

Looks like "wing man with a reliable jumper" is the most agreed-upon need.

Perhaps Mike Miller for Andersen? The salaries match.

Miller's not only one of the best shooters in the league, but is always top 3 in rebound rate for SG/SF.

With the emergence of gallo, potential signing of chandler, Afflalo looking more like the way he did last year, and the way hamilton has looked I am not so sure the Nuggets need another wing. and if they did I doubt they take on a worse contract in Miller then they have with Birdman.

While Miller has looked better this year, he is still owed $18.6 after this year with 3 years guaranteed. I would rather have the Nuggets get a TPE then take on miller.

yea, the key is to get andre miller off the court.....not trade for another wing.

AAA is ballin because they're finally getting him in positions on the court where he knows how to be successful. and ty's figuring out fast how to utilize p&r's and get his shot and create passing lanes and all sorts of stuff which takes the offense to another level.

just need a backup pg that won't pound the ball into the court and then throw it to harrington, or pound the ball into the court while isolating in the post. ugh.

Return to Denver Nuggets
