Is Wilson Chandler as good as gone?

There are new reports that Wilson is playing out the rest of this season in Italy, and then taking a big contract offer from the Raptors next season, hence why Jose Calderon and Barbosa are rumoured to be moved so Toronto can free up cap space.
Although Denver hold Chandler's Rights, it will probably be a offer too big to match.
This is disappointing as he would have helped Denver's playoff run. My guess is that Denver didn't want to offer a short term deal this season, then allow him to shop. I guess he has been advised by his agent that he can get more money elsewhere if he waits it out.
So I don't think we will be seeing him join us after all. And if Birdman isn't moved soon, there probably will be no change to our team. Lets just pray that everyone stays healthy now!

don't think he is as good as gone. Toronto would be making another terrible mistake if they offered a contract denver would simply not match. Wilson is using a team in italy as a way to gain leverage, after all if he does not get cleared to play in the NBA by march 1st than the only team he can sign with is the nuggets. I see a short two year deal and then denver moves him to toronto once the season ends.

Sucks. How about can you relinquish his rights, in other words, pull your QO off the table at this point? Thanks.

Can't answer. But why would they do it?

Well, if they though Chandler was a goner (if he goes to Europe this year and becomes unrestricted next) I doubt he'll be returning to the Nuggets but if he agreed to it (coming to the Warriors for the MLE which 5M this year, 2M more than Denver's offering him as a QO) the Warriors would trade Dorelle Wright to the Nuggets (would be more suited to backing up Gallo @ the 3, and give them more bench depth as well as 3 pt shooting) for part of the TPE the Nugs own from the Felton deal).
This would give them something and keep them from going into the lux tax (which they would if they offered something like the 7M or more that Chandler wants or if the matched that sort of offer). Chandler might do it (it's probably more than he'd make over in Italy and 2M more than he'd make if he accepted the Denver QO) and he'd still have the ability to be a FA next year.
The Warriors risk him jetting but audition him for the rest of the league and himself and I think improve their team somewhat. Seems like a potential win-win for all concerned to me. Wright only makes 3.8M this season and I think is an expiring next season. Seems like this might be possible but time is running out for everyone.

It appears that from what I can tell that Chandler will still be a RA next season if Denver does nothing which I was not aware of and this lessons the incentive they might have to do my proposed deal (although I could see it still having some appeal to get the Chandler mess over with). I know that lux tax is also an issue in Denver which is a factor if you were to pay Chandler what he's probably asking for.

Chandler cannot sign the qo at this point it has expired, the Nuggets can offer him any contract they want at this point, and still have the right to match any other offer he gets. chandler is basically at the point if he wants to play in the Nba this year he has to go through Denver to do it. the Nuggets will have to re-extend his qualifying offer in June to keep the rights they hold on him now.
The Nuggets have no reason to do a deal to avoid the cap restrictions, if the warriors wanted him they may do a sign and trade this summer but I do not see a lessor players being the reason they would do it. right now they cannot even do a sign and trade.
the nuggets also can pay chandler his value while staying well under the tax both this year and next. If the nuggets do a move with Chandler it is going to be because he is significantly overpaid, or they feel they are receiving a significant asset/assets in return that entice them enough to do the deal.

His agent tweeted that FIBA granted his release...
Read on the D Post site that the Nuggets will wait until after the deadline Thursday to make an offer to Chandler. That makes sense because they want to see if he signs an offer sheet so the can match what someone else gives him instead of throwing out an offer before they have to.
I'd guess he's offered something Thur night or Fri and if he doesn't sign by Mon or Tues he won't be playing for the Nuggets this year....and then he'll probably be signed-n-traded in the off-season. If he doesn't want to play here now he won't want to in 4 months and Denver won't offer him more money 4 months from now either.

Well, we're past the 1st....Mr. chandler has little option now, sign long term with Denver, or enjoy Italy.

Who is his agent anyway? Seems like Chandler is getting the worst representation in the league right now. Is he representing himself or something?
